Cundall’s leading Sustainability & Building Physics team is a key part of our global business. The main objective of the role will be to establish our Sustainability & Building Physics capability within Bristol. You will be supported both by our teams in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh who are all leaders in this field. There will be a strong emphasis on business development and industry leadership and you will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider Cundall capacity in the local market.
The wider UK based team will provide interim technical support and training as the local team is being established. We are resourced as a single team with workload shared across offices to provide commercial security and support recruitment.
Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report and document Sustainability & Building Physics projects as well as present to clients. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills.
You will be responsible for client management and project delivery for our key work streams:
Building physics and parametric model services
Building performance and operational energy optimisation
Certification and compliance
Health and wellbeing advice and guidance
Net zero carbon services
Sustainability design services
Sustainable Strategy and Governance
Educated to Masters level (or equivalent) in Engineering or the Built Environment, you will have gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, and ideally will have achieved or be working towards chartership status.
You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of sustainability and building physics, particularly in relation to thermal comfort, passive design, compliance modelling and real operational energy assessments.
Knowledge of dynamic simulation software, mechanical design, UK Building Regulations, Planning issues, climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation and life cycle carbon costing is highly desirable.
An understanding of financial and resource management is critical.
Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
