POLICY ADVISOR, SUSTAINABLE FINANCE, EU
This post based in E3G’s Brussels or Berlin office will contribute to the delivery of ambitious sustainable finance policy outcomes in the EU. The role will drive research and analysis on the legacy and next steps of the EU sustainable finance agenda, lead stakeholder management with policymakers, financial institutions and civil society organisations, and contribute to developing E3G’s future strategic priorities in this work.

Key Responsibilities
Support E3G’s work on sustainable finance at EU level as part of E3G’s EU Sustainable Finance team, working in close coordination with colleagues to deliver a program of work which aims to ensure that Europe is a highly ambitious international norm-setter in sustainable finance.
Lead a project on the legacy and next phase for EU sustainable finance policy in preparation for the next European political cycle from 2024.
Tracking EU private finance policies and regulatory developments forming part of the EU’s sustainable finance agenda and interpreting them in the context of the EU’s Green Deal objectives and E3G’s mission and goals.
Acting as an internal point of expertise and proactively providing timely updates and analysis both to E3G colleagues and to external stakeholders. Familiarity with climate risk and prudential regulation will be an advantage.
Building and maintaining a network of public and private sector stakeholders who are engaged in the process of creating new European private finance regulations.
Contributing to E3G thought leadership and communications on sustainable finance, including delivery of relevant qualitative and quantitative analysis, research, blogs and articles and reports. Producing internal and external communications materials and undertaking short pieces of wider analysis.
Contributing to development of programme and project strategies and plans, to monitoring, evaluation and learning from project work, and to supporting strong E3G relationships with funders.
Working collaboratively and proactively with E3G staff from other programmes on cross-cutting themes and outputs.
International travel may be required from time to time.
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will have:
In-depth knowledge of EU financial regulatory space, including the work of DG FISMA and the European Supervisory Authorities, combined with a strong network of existing contacts gained through direct work in this field.
A good understanding of the EU legislative processes.
A high level of initiative and be positive, organised, stress-resilient and able to deliver high quality work on time.
A track record of problem solving and research including quantitative analysis (experience with finance databases will be an advantage), an ability to quickly familiarise yourself with a new topic through self-led research including conversations with experts, assessing legislation or policy statements, and analysis of data sources.
Attention to detail combined with the ability to work effectively to support shared team outcomes.
Demonstrated experience with project management and stakeholder management skills required.
A good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (required) and post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable);
At least 5 years work experience, working on finance-related topics.
Very strong English written and verbal communication skills. A good working knowledge of at least one major language besides English would be an advantage, e.g. French or German.
