Your opportunity
Dillon’s Planning & Design group is looking for a Junior Planner (Engagement Specialist) to join our Stakeholder Engagement team within a multidisciplinary team of professionals in our Toronto, Oakville, Guelph, Kitchener and Hamilton offices. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting city building projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Planning & Design (94%)
- Work with and support intermediate and senior planners to design and develop innovative community engagement plans for internal and external clients
- Research stakeholders and project issues as input to engagement planning
- Develop and implement engagement programs leveraging digital technologies, including website content management systems, email marketing, mobile apps, social media, video and other digital communications and engagement tools
- Prepare communication and engagement materials including presentations, agendas, key messages, frequently asked questions, fact sheets, display panels, work books
- Prepare engagement and meeting materials, including summaries and memos, presentations, information panels, activities, and informational content for project websites
- Plan, attend and facilitate engagement events of various sizes and complexity
- Analyze and synthesize input received and prepare consultation summary reports
- Evaluate engagement programs and identify areas for continuous improvement
- Assist in the continued profile and growth of this service by participating in professional associations and liaising with clients
- Ensure professionalism and personal accountability for time management, quality control, troubleshooting of project work, and meeting timelines and budgets
- Work on other planning projects including on planning policy or Indigenous planning as necessary or desired
- Travel to other Dillon offices and project locations to deliver engagement programs, as necessary

Qualifications
What you will need to succeed****
- A bachelor’s or graduate degree in community planning from a planning program or another applicable field
- One (1) or more years of professional planning experience in Ontario, preferably in the consulting environment

Experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of meaningful community engagement in community planning
- An active listener with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think critically and strategically
- Responsible, organized, accountable and committed to excellence
- Able to work in a self-directed, multidisciplinary team setting
- Experience in group facilitation or public and stakeholder engagement an asset
- Familiarity with graphic design software is an asset
- Experience with Indigenous community engagement is an asset
- Familiarity with the communication requirements of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is an asset
- Completion of the IAP2 Foundations in Public Participation training course is an asset
