About the role

As ChildFund Australia’s Major Donor Executive, you will, together with the rest of the Philanthropy team, work collaboratively and energetically to drive the growth and servicing of a large portfolio of high-value donors, including trusts, foundations and corporates, with a focus on major donors.

In doing this, you will be a key contributor in ChildFund Australia meeting its ambitious public fundraising goals.

This role is a permanent, full-time role based in our office in Surry Hills, Sydney. We’re also supportive of flexible working arrangements, including allowing our employees to work-from-home some days if the responsibilities of the role permit it.

Key duties of the role

  • Prospect, qualify and build relationships with high-value donors, including trusts, foundations and corporates
  • Manage the implementation of the high-value donor engagement plan, including strategies to strengthen relationships and increase opportunities
  • Write compelling proposals that align program funding priorities with donor interests
  • Solicit gifts confidently through face-to-face, phone and written engagement
  • Work with the Communications team to develop effective strategies for engaging existing and potential donors
  • Ensure fundraising materials comply with relevant national and state fundraising legislation and the Australian Privacy Principles
  • Assist the Philanthropy team with other initiatives to engage donors and increase philanthropic income for ChildFund Australia

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in fundraising, philanthropy, marketing or sales
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant business-related discipline
  • Proven communication & active listening skills
  • Past experience writing compelling proposals and inspiring feedback reports capable of creating a persuasive case for support
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Australian philanthropic environment

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience selling high-value products
  • Experience in not-for-profit organisations
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion
