Accion’s Finance team manages all of Accion’s financial needs. Working closely with each of its subsidiaries, departments, auditors, clients and vendors, the finance team plays a critical role in ensuring a clean audit every year in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the USA. The Finance team includes 14 finance and accounting professionals with expertise in consolidated multicompany & multicurrency financial statements, treasury, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, financial donor reporting to corporations, foundations, multilateral & public donors, budgeting and planning, finance systems integration and automation.
Position Summary
Accion is in need of a manager who will be responsible for performing all payroll accounting functions for U.S.-based and international contract staff, preparation and verification of payrolls ensuring proper statutory and voluntary deductions, maintenance of payroll records, coordination with ADP for preparation of federal, state, and local government reports and tax filings. This position will report to the Deputy CFO.
Finance Support:
Coordinate with Human Resources on approval of payroll and retirement plan payments and changes. Develop annual calendar.
Maintain a process to monitors changes in payroll, tax, and reporting procedures.
Finance liaison to work directly with payroll provider (ADP) and 403(b) (Principal).
Supports Accounting with reconciliations of all payroll related accounts. Provide ADP General Ledger Interface (GLI) files input into Deltek. Work to identify and reconcile variances in the Job Cost Variance GL. Review Letter of Credit invoices for accuracy and enter interest accruals.
Prepares payroll and pertinent benefit general ledger entries through ADP General Ledger Interface (GLI)
Prepares and enters payroll journal entry for all international employees
Reconciles all payroll related GL accounts monthly.
Submits payments for 403b retirement plan contributions and FSA contributions to Principal and Discovery respectively. Track employee and employer contributions to ensure accuracy before submission. Prepares YTD reports for Third party administrator.
On an annual basis, prepares and presents audit reports for external auditors, retirement plan (403b) auditors and workman’s comp auditors.
Contributes to the development of payroll policies and procedures.
Provides support to staff on payroll questions by researching and interpreting data.
Interacts with external auditors in completing audits
Support Finance with 990 compensation schedules and 5500 finance activities.
Adhoc task assigned by CFO or Deputy CFO/Controller
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent years of experience
Generally, 10+ years of relevant work experience
Developing expert in the area of Payroll and Benefit Accounting
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility
Excellent customer service skills.
Multilingual is a plus
Proficiency in ADP Workplace or comparable payroll software platforms
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
Ability to operate largely self-sufficiently with minimal guidance and decisions from others
Excellent at multi-tasking with a positive, can-do attitude.
