About the role

The Divemaster Field assistant in Fiji is responsible for assisting with all project activities, ensuring participants receive high-quality training in identification and survey techniques. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining health and safety standards both in the field and on base.

Effective communication within the team is essential, with regular participation in key meetings. This includes weekly discussions with the Dive Coordinator, boat captains, and boat marshals to address challenges and plan upcoming activities. Additionally, the role requires attending weekly Marine Team meetings to review schedules and identify any project concerns.

Supporting the daily operations of the team is a key responsibility, including assisting staff with day-to-day duties such as participant arrivals, departures, and weekend logistics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting smaller groups of participants during project activities
  • Dive Training – working with the Dive coordinator to train international volunteers and local community members in a variety of courses.
  • Assisting with the logistics and upkeep required to run remote fieldwork
  • Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety through ongoing proactive review of safety standards and training
  • Assisting in the day-to-day management of a large group of international volunteers
  • Assist with intakes and orientation.

Professional skills and experience:

  • Fluency in English

  • PADI Divemaster qualification

  • Dedication and proven experience managing safe diving standards

  • Experience working with people from a range of backgrounds

  • Professional Dive Master Insurance
