Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

Job Summary:

Nonviolent Peaceforce is seeking an Operations and Logistics Manager to support the programs teams in New York and San Diego in all support functions for program activities. This position will also work directly alongside local community organizations and leaders to identify and implement UCP activities and to co-create and implement training00000s with organizations with the expressed intention of building Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) capacity in New York and San Diego. This is a hybrid position with qualified candidate residing in either San Diego, CA, New York City, NY, Washington D.C., or Minneapolis, MN.

Key Responsibilities and Responsibilities:

Program Operations

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operations for both the NYC and San Diego teams.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures and protocols to be followed by both teams.

  • Act as a liaison between the NYC and San Diego teams to ensure alignment in strategies, initiatives, and timelines.

  • Manage logistics including resource allocation & procurement, inventory management, and scheduling across both locations.

  • Provide support for trainings and community meetings.

  • Facilitate and document cross-team meetings for updates, planning, and problem-solving.

  • Lead the operations and logistics functions to support program actions.

  • Lead on logistics for trainings and events and serve as a resource for trainers. This includes support for lead trainer and community outreach.

Programs Scale-Up

  • Provide operations support / play an active role in setting up NP programming in new locations (relationship building, outreach, office space and logistics)
  • Support in hiring processes for positions in new/expanding locations

Qualifications:

  • Three years’ work experience preferably with a non-profit, civil society organization or community-based organization or group, in a management capacity.
  • Strong commitment to the safety and security of civilians, human rights and racial justice and mission of the organization.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the political and social dynamics in the US.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to set priorities, solve problems and analyze data.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a diverse group of colleagues.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Office applications; IT hardware skills a definite asset.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the social sciences, peace studies or a related field
  • Strong commitment to the safety and security of civilians, human rights and racial justice
  • Excellent organization and administrative skills
  • Skills in researching, tracking and analyzing issues and trends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with unarmed civilian protection programming
  • Knowledge of and interest in peacebuilding, peacemaking and/or peacekeeping

Working Conditions:

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Some travel may be required.
