The Company

Tiko (previously known as Triggerise) believes in a world where all youth have the power to choose where, when, and how they meet their sexual reproductive health needs. Our digital platform delivers scalable and verifiable sexual reproductive health services for young people in 5 main markets in Sub Saharan Africa - Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa and Burkina Faso. We work together with local communities and use nudges like reminders, discounts, and reward points to encourage our users to access and use sexual and reproductive health services. We also support our users in becoming micro-entrepreneurs and adding value to their economies.

Tiko is currently operational in six markets across sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa and Zambia) and is set to expand to Nigeria in 2024. Tiko is looking for a consultant to support Tiko’s operational expansion into Nigeria.

Scope of work

The consultant will be expected to support Tiko in setting up our operations in Abuja, Nigeria. The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the recruitment of at least two field staff who will be responsible for mapping out retail shops, onboarding service providers and mobilisers onto the Tiko platform, providing training on the use of the Tiko platform and offering on-the-ground technical support.
  • Sourcing aggregators in the country to connect all mobile network operators to the Tiko platform.
  • Liaising on behalf of Tiko to have the Tiko Nigeria entity registered in the country.
  • Building relationships with the local health administration and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Mapping out service providers and community based organisations to support with Tiko’s scale up in Abuja and Kano.
  • Travel to Kano to set up operations in the geography (dependent on security situation)
  • Represent Tiko Nigeria internal and externally to ensure achievement of service delivery targets.
  • Liaise with Tiko’s internal teams to ensure full functionality of the platform, adaptability to the Nigerian context and escalate any arising issues.
  • Contract consultant to conduct client exit interviews.
  • Contract partner to print branded materials
  • Manage the pilot - document lessons and challenges and inform the development of a scale up plan (as applicable)
  • Work with existing partner during the pilot to ensure fidelity, understanding of the country context and adaptability

Deliverables

  • Tiko Nigeria registered as an entity
  • Aggregator sourced, contracted and connected to Tiko platform.
  • Tiko platform in Nigeria fully functional
  • Two field-based staff recruited in Abuja (and Kano as applicable)
  • Service delivery targets (TBD) achieved
  • Client exit interview conducted and insights shared
  • Branded materials, including Tiko cards, procured and distributed
  • Service providers, community based organisations and partners mapped and engaged in Abuja (and Kano as applicable)
  • Lessons from the pilot documented
  • Scale up plan developed (as applicable)

About you

You are a proactive and hands-on leader with demonstrated expertise in setting up operations and a thorough understanding of Nigeria's operational landscape. You have an eye for operational excellence and the networking capabilities to help Tiko grow. You have a strong background in HIV and SRH public sector practices in Nigeria.

Requirements

  • You bring a minimum of 10 years of senior management experience, with a focus on program and project management in the health sector, particularly in Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH and HIV interventions) targeting adolescents and young people.

  • You can hit the ground running and have the ability to motivate teams to ensure achievement of deliverables.

  • You’re available immediately.

  • You are fluent in English.
