OP Quarry Manager

Overview

• To Build/Develop, Lead and manage a motivated quarry team to the complete extraction, processing and supply of raw materials to plant at optimum quality/quantity and cost and for the development of mines / quarries for future working and rehabilitation.
• To comply with statutory regulations and Holcim policies / guidelines.
• Implement the strategy for raw material / mineral components extraction and preparation by balancing costs, volumes, quality, safety and environmental impact and lifetime of the deposits.

Safety

·         Lead the implementation of SHE policies, principles and directives.

·         Ensure compliance with SHE Responsibilities Statement.

·         Promote a safe system of work and a strong safety culture in the workplace.  Comply with all relevant safety, health and environment legislation. Provision of relevant site induction programs

·          Lead quarry team.

Quarry

Governance

·         Keep constant contact with the relevant external authorities and stakeholders to obtain all statutory clearances and ensure future sources of supply of raw materials.

Quarry Planning

·         Manage location of extraction, layout, stripping, dewatering and waste disposal strictly in accordance with staged development plans to optimise production and efficient use of resources.

·         Site development in line with the Quarry Development Plan.

·         Monitor all development consent conditions to achieve full compliance, including provision of statutory reporting.

·         Manage site rehabilitation in accordance with approved plan.

·         Set up, together with plant stakeholders, the quality and quantity targets of raw materials and mineral components to be delivered to the plant.

·         Active management of legal boundaries (e.g. mining rights, land ownership, permitting, buffer zones, no go areas, properties and land acquisition) in cooperation with the RMSO

·         Participate to raw material investigations and deposit evaluation assisting the

RMSO with local third parties, gathering of specific data, reporting potentials and threats.

·         Support RMSO preparing and implementing long term and short term plans for quarry development ensuring future availability of raw materials and ongoing effective mine operations.

·         Deliver on a yearly base the required resources and reserves documentation

and data

·         In cooperation with RMSO identify potentials of improvement in term of performance and raw material sourcing.

Technical

Network

·         Participate to regional turntables and workshops

·         Assist RMSO in the realization of pilot test

·         Provide feedback from suppliers meetings to RMSO

Quarry

Operations

·         Manage the entire production chain of quarry development production from the quarry to pre-blending pile by meeting the defined quantity, delivery time and budget requirements

·          Participate to the identification of potential improvements with HTEC / RMSO and secure the implementation of the defined actions.

·         Local mobile fleet management in cooperation with the Regional Mobile Fleet

Officer

·         Monitor the water management system and the geological situation organizing quarry inspections

·         Contribute to developing and implementing quarry rehabilitation plan

Quarry

Maintenance

·         Together with the OP maintenance manager, set up equipment shutdown periods for performing the required overhauls and repairs

·         Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; ensure up-to-date technical documentation and standard tools; optimize the internal processes and structures. Supervise personnel to apply them consistently

·         Develop the quarry budget with plant stakeholders, monitor costs and report them

·         Report progress / results of performance improvement

Education/Qualifications

• University degree in mining or geology
• Advanced French & English (B1 or more)

Experience

• 3 -5 years experience in quarry operation

Knowledge & Skills

Computer Skills / Quarry operations software (LH)

·         Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite

·         Maps (Surfer, GIS etc) Exploration (Grapher, Strater, Logs etc) Modelling (Leapfrog, QSO) and QO (QM, Optimix, etc)
