The offshore wind industry in Brazil and Latin America is expanding rapidly! Are you passionate about ensuring the safe, sustainable implementation of offshore wind? DNV Energy Systems division is seeking an Offshore Wind Project Engineer - Consultant that demonstrate the consulting skills, enthusiasm, and curiosity to engage on the most exciting offshore wind projects in Brasil and Latin America.
This role is to enhance capabilities and increase resources of our Project Engineering and Due Diligence (PE&DD) team in Brazil, which delivers a variety of technical assessments, studies, market reviews, and strategic engagements to support our offshore wind industry customers. These include quick turn-around site and market assessments relative to decision-making support and feasibility, as well as long-term, multi-phase project and developer advisory services. We focus on Technical Due Diligences (TDD) for project financing and M&A processes, and Owner’s Engineering and Construction Monitoring services for wind energy projects. In this capacity we support both established offshore wind developers, newcomers to the market, industry stakeholders and agencies, as well as financial and equity investors.
The role is permanent and initially ideally based in Porto Alegre, with options to work from other DNV offices in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) or Latin America later on. The successful applicant will have a primary focus on the Brasil wind market but will be working closely in collaboration with our Latin America team and colleagues around the globe to provide energy consulting services. Dependent on your background and interests your tasks will not only be limited to offshore wind energy, but could involve other renewables such as onshore wind, solar, hydrogen, and integrated energy systems as well.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about renewables and will be able to contribute to the team from an early stage. Typically, team members work in multiple projects over the course of the year and in several countries.

What you’ll do:
The responsibilities will be aligned with the applicant’s prior experience and work preferences and may include:
* Provide our customers with technical advice related to planning and development of wind farm concepts and projects
* Discuss and resolve technical issues with project developers and lenders/investors and support customers through the financial closings of projects and through the construction phase (TDD services). NOTE: Detailed experience in one or several specific technical aspects of a TDD will be valued (e.g. civil or electrical design, contract negotiations, regulatory aspects related to interconnection or PPAs, etc.).
* Review construction contracts, supply contracts, contracting strategies and project procurement plans
* Owner’s and/or Lender’s Engineer (also known as Independent Engineer) during pre-construction and construction phase of the projects
* Perform market studies, legislation and regulation reviews and assessments, cost studies and technical assessments
* Customer contact and project management, including managing complex, technical projects from inception through to completion, coordinating a team of specialists (local and international) to provide top level technical advisory and high quality deliverables to our customers.
* Follow market trends, discuss service offerings with customers, win new commercial or research projects
* Support or attend conference participation to represent services and capabilities to customers and stakeholders of the industry sector
* Support a dedicated business development team with market access, domain knowledge and customer contacts in the acquisition as well as after sales process.
What is Required:
* Bachelor’s Degree required. Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
* 1-2 years of previous Offshore Wind experience or otherwise 3 years of general experience, within the renewable energy industry or renewable energy taught course modules required
* Understanding of enforceable norms and regulations within the renewable industry
* Knowledge of general energy market and, in particular, about renewable energy market in the Brazil market and for Offshore Wind. Experience in energy markets of other LatAm countries (particularly Chile and Mexico) will be appreciated.
* Experience in development, design, review and/or supervision of renewable projects: including technology, civil and electrical infrastructure works and/or grid interconnection. Experience in other kind of energy projects would be also valuable.
* Excellent English and Portuguese language skills (both in writing and speaking) required. Spanish knowledge appreciated.
* Proficient in the most popular computer programs.
* Ability to work independently, be a self–starter, energetic.
* Structured and service –minded approach, always focusing on delivering high quality results.
*Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, domestic and international.
*Ability to work under pressure and manage several on–going projects.

* Cable engineering and design, including experience with dynamic subsea cable
* Mooring system design, engineering or installation
* Fixed-bottom substructure design for offshore wind
* Floating substation or floating structures, all types
* Offshore wind engineering, supply, and construction contract negotiation, procurement or review
* Development of offshore wind construction schedules
* Vessel and port logistics planning
* O&M and decommissioning planning for offshore wind projects
* Feasibility and project qualification activities, including pre-feasibility and auction preparation
