The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. Position Summary
NRDC is seeking a Network Engineer to join the IT team in our New York office. You will be a part of a small but growing team of 20, currently based in NY, DC, SF, LA, CH, MT and Vancouver. Although we are geographically distributed, we enjoy close working relationships and collaborate continuously on a wide range of projects and activities that support and advance our business strategy.
The IT team is a diverse and vibrant group dedicated to ensuring NRDC’s systems are reliable, our applications support the business, and our users are proficient. The IT team seeks to ensure continuous employee development through on-the-job and formal training.
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing local and wide-area networks, core systems, and associated operating systems. The Network Engineer will also be responsible for implementing and monitoring security solutions in order to manage and mitigate risks, meet business objectives, and the policies and procedures of NRDC. The Network Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues. In addition, this role is responsible for organizing highly complex activities for IT implementation of infrastructure project initiatives and security initiatives.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $120,000 to $140,000.
