Background
This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience within an international non-profit organization, assisting in building and testing custom Machine Translation (MT) engines for CLEAR Global’s partner organizations.
Objectives
The objectives of this role are to:
- Pilot the custom Machine Translation (MT) engine training feature in Phrase TMS for key language pairs, i.e.
- pilot the custom MT engine training leveraging CAT tool functionalities from data cleaning through training, quality evaluation, and implementation monitoring,
- use case with up to 3 process improvement recommendations.
- Prepare a report on the outcomes of the pilot
The role
To support the Senior Quality Officer to ensure CLEAR Global delivers quality language services to its non-profit partners, assisting with daily quality operations, monitoring, and control tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, testing, and implementing quality operations programs, with a focus on piloting the custom MT engine initiative.
- Clean Translation Memory (TM) data and train custom MT engines leveraging CAT tool functionalities.
- Run quality evaluations and tests on custom MT engines outcomes using LLM-driven LQA mechanism.
- Report quality issues, underperforming areas, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with the Project Management Team on quality and risk management tasks.
- Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and data collection.
- Track pilot progress and deliverables, maintain pilot documentation, and provide regular status updates to the Senior Quality Officer.
- Maintain an organized pilot environment across platforms, including records, files, and databases.
- Ensure effective communication with the Project Management Team throughout the pilot to facilitate successful implementation and clarity on quality outcomes.
- Undertake other quality operations tasks as assigned.
- Act in the best interest of the organization during the project period.
These roles and responsibilities are approximate and may change over time.
Qualifications
- Excellent command of English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage;
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a University degree program (preferred degree in translation, communication, or a related field);
- Previous experience in translation and/or interpreting (internships and volunteering are considered valid experiences) is desirable;
- Previous experience working with non-profit organizations is desirable;
- Knowledge of CAT tools, Machine Translation, and Quality Management basics is a plus.
