About IWPR:

The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) is an independent, international non-governmental organisation with head offices in London and Washington DC. IWPR empowers local voices to drive change in countries in conflict, crisis and transition. Where hate speech and propaganda proliferate, and journalists and civic activists are under attack, IWPR promotes reliable information and public debate that makes a difference.

Project Background

The Artemis Alliance (AA) programme is aimed at preventing and tackling gender and identity-based forms of disinformation in Armenia, Georgia and Poland.

AA consists of network members across the three countries, primarily civil society organisations (CSOs) whose work is heavily impacted by gender and identity-based disinformation (GIBD), such as those supporting women and the LGBTQIA+ community. The programme is being implemented by an international consortium that includes Zinc Network (lead implementer), the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR), Kvinna til Kvinna Foundation (KtK), and International Alert (IA).

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Media Relations Consultant to play a crucial role within our local partner CSO’s team, focusing on engaging with media representatives, developing communications and media relations strategy for both international and local media networks. The consultant will also provide regular training and mentoring for the team, expand CSO’s audience through various media outlets and civil society networks and promote the  project’s objectives in local and international media and civil society networks.

  • Develop a comprehensive map of media outlets, identifying potential allies and rivals for strategic communications;
  • Conduct power mapping to inform the selection of target audiences for communications/media outputs;
  • Assist in networking with local and international journalists to facilitate collaboration and coverage of the Artemis Alliance campaign;
  • Facilitate introductions to relevant local journalists and experts to enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Upskilling team members in media relations through collaborative working.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field;
  • Proven experience in media engagement and communications in Armenia;
  • Proven experience in working with commercial media outlets in Armenia;
