Mechanical Quality Assurance Construction Specialist

🇺🇸 Rochester, NY, US 📝 FULL-TIME

The Quality Assurance and Quality Control Construction Specialist will report to the Construction Manager and will be assigned QA/QC activities for on site construction and off site equipment fabrication verification after said equipment arrives on site. QA/QC support will be dedicated to Li-Cycle’s Commercial Hub#1 project in Rochester, NY. The ideal candidate is expected to pro-actively oversee the implementation of the Li-Cycle’s owner’s QA/QC program, to include the means and methods to properly store and protect equipment and materials, oversee the non - destructive test measures taken by subcontractors and maintain documentation of inspection of work executed by the subcontractors. Throughout the installation/ construction process the QA/QC Construction Specialist will assist engineering group on reviews of shop drawings of equipment and installation of materials and equipment  as per plans and specifications.  A broad knowledge across all aspects of QA/QC related documentation civil, structural, and architectural engineering designs for industrial manufacturing facilities is required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Li-Cycle North American Hub project team in management, supervision, and oversight of the QA/QC aspects of contracted equipment suppliers, material suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Provide support for QA/QC related subjects to Li-Cycle’s technical engineering and construction teams during project planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Be familiar with submittal procedures and ability to ensure that a submittal is complete.
  • Review of equipment supplier engineering and shop fabrication QA/QC documentation for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Review construction contractor RFP’s and bid proposals for QA/QC conformance.
  • Support engineering group in the requests for information (RFI) responses for QA/QC conformance.
  • Interface with Li-Cycle management, business, and engineering teams to resolve project related issues.
  • Provide field support as needed for project engineering and construction teams overseeing the QA/QC aspects of performance and documentation of the GC’s non-destructive test programs, concrete slump & break testing, flange torqueing methods, materials certification and equipment storage and maintenance logs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a QA/QC Construction Specialist in an industrial construction / manufacturing or operating environment.
  • Knowledge of and execution experience in implementation of supervisory role over the Contractor Quality Control Plan (CQCP), the implementation and maintenance of an Inspection Test Plan (ITP), the ability to initiate a non conformance report & log maintenance and ability to participate as a lead team member in subcontractor QA/QC based audits.
  • Well-versed in current ISO 9000.
  • Knowledge in industry best practices.
  • Past experience with hand offs from mechanical completion level construction of industrial level components to a commissioning team.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

Work Conditions:

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Ability to physically oversee the construction of engineering designs in the field.
  • May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
  • May be required to use PPE.
