The Century Foundation is hiring a

Maternal and Reproductive Health Fellow/Senior Fellow

💼 Hybrid 🇺🇸 Washington, DC, US 📝 FULL-TIME 🎯 MID LEVEL

Washington, D.C. | Minimum Salary: $90,000 | Maximum Salary: $130,000

The Century Foundation (TCF), an independent public policy think tank, seeks a fellow or senior fellow (dependent on years of experience) to join our Maternal and Reproductive Health team. As the Black maternal health crisis deepens, and access to abortion and reproductive care teeters following the fall of Roe v Wade, join a team determined to push back. The fellow/senior fellow will lead research projects, write publications, and help to drive change to support stronger policies and programs that address inequity in maternal and reproductive health, with a strong racial equity lens.

Job Reporting and Details

Reporting to the director of maternal and reproductive health, the fellow/senior fellow will work alongside other TCF experts, as well as the nationally recognized Black Maternal Health Federal Policy Collective, to advance Black maternal health, abortion access, and reproductive health care. This is an ideal position for a strong writer and researcher with expertise in maternal health, birth equity, and reproductive justice, and a grounding in public policy. Current focus areas for the team include amplifying the policy expertise of Black women focused on maternal health; abortion and maternal health; disability and reproductive justice; and other intersectional issues within reproductive health, rights, and justice. The fellow/senior fellow will have the opportunity to further shape that agenda based on their knowledge and expertise.

This is a full-time hybrid position, working two days in our Washington, D.C. office and the remainder remotely. Salary depends on years of experience and level of hire (fellow/senior fellow).

  • Initiating and conducting research and policy analysis that advances access to high quality, affordable maternal and reproductive health care, including publishing long-form research reports and shorter commentary pieces

  • Monitoring and tracking maternal and reproductive health policy developments including both legislative and administrative actions
  • Participating in select coalitions focused on health care, reproductive rights/justice, maternal health, and related topics
  • Public speaking at professional meetings, conferences, and other events
  • Meeting with key stakeholders and policymakers to present analysis and findings
  • Assisting in identifying and securing partners and collaborators for projects
  • Collaborating with the director and TCF’s development and leadership teams to develop grant proposals and reports
  • Identifying and managing work for policy associates, interns, contractors and/or grantees, when needed

Qualifications

  • Five to ten years experience in maternal or reproductive health research, policy, and/or advocacy
  • Master’s degree in public health, public policy, gender studies, or a related field preferred
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Willingness to accept feedback and learn new skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of reproductive justice, birth equity, and intersectionality and how to incorporate these frameworks into policy
  • Demonstrated interest in federal government policy-making processes
