FUNCTION
The Marketing Creative Director will lead and manage the creative process for integrated marketing campaigns from concept to completion. The Marketing Creative Director position will partner with the internal Donor Insights department to understand the needs of donor audiences and utilize that information to create donor-centric marketing campaigns. This position will manage and cultivate the career development of the organization’s in-house creative team and lead collaboration across departments and partners. The position will give particular thought to how messaging and creative can be repurposed for needs throughout the marketing department and is responsible for ensuring visual communications and brand standards are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES
A. Lead and direct integrated marketing creative strategies and deliverables of multi-channel — print and digital — campaigns. Guide efforts to deliver premium design and creative solutions. (35%)
- Produce and present new creative concepts for integrated marketing campaigns, focusing on organizational fundraising, brand awareness, and mass market donor stewardship.
- Develop and execute exceptional and well-crafted creative assets for multimedia campaigns that meet needs of unique marketing audiences.
- Partnering with marketing leadership team, produce and present new concepts and sales-decks as requested.
- Lead and evolve marketing content integration calendars and meetings to create broad view of plans and identify opportunities.
B. Guide and oversee the work of the creative team of copywriter, graphic designers, videographer and other members. (25%)
- Develop and present Marketing Creative Department annual budgets.
- Develop and oversee key performance indicators for the Creative Department.
- Lead weekly production meetings, guide copy and design direction.
- Oversee Marketing Creative Department daily workflows, assign project workload, and monitor deadlines.
C. Collaborate effectively as a creative partner with marketing teams, internal teams – specifically Global Communications Department, and outside agencies/partners. (20%)
- Present Marketing team integrated campaigns at various meetings to provide insight into marketing plans, including targeted audiences and donor audience insights.
- Collaborate with Global Communications Department, representing marketing for content needs and campaign placement.
- Partner with Heifer’s Global Communications Department to evolve brand guidelines, with a particular focus on the organization’s individual donor mass market brand.
- Represent Marketing team on Disaster Rehabilitation committee and coordinate messaging within marketing channels.
D. Oversee and manage implementation and maintenance of current and historical programmatic and promotional content and multimedia assets. (15%)
- Oversee and maintain Heifer’s Digital Asset Management System (DAM) to ensure high quality and efficient access to photos and content.
- Oversee and maintain Heifer’s Project Management System to ensure accurate project tracking, reporting, documentation and project communication and collaboration.
- Develop and implement a Heifer International archival program.
E. Other job related duties, as assigned (5%)
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of related experience in marketing, communications, or agency work.
Preferred Requirements:
Seven (7) years’ combined experience as a marketing leader, managing editor or project manager for digital and print publications.
Most Critical Proficiencies:
- Knowledge of marketing strategy and experience in generating alternative storytelling
- Experience leading or managing donor audience insights and understanding of donor-centric strategies
- Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mind set who enjoys challenges
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt based on audience insights
- Excellent organizational skills including strong attention to detail
- Experience coaching and managing staff
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign/InCopy, Project Management Systems, and Digital Asset Management systems
- Strong project management, content editing, and writing skills
- Knowledge of the non-profit sector and the context to which non-profit organizations operate
- Knowledge of digital and print campaign integration
- Knowledge of Heifer’s work worldwide

Salary Information:
Starting salary for this position is $107k USD annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competency.
