WHO WE ARE
Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. During the school year, KING is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, creative movement and sports instruction.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Kids in the Game is looking for a Marketing & Development Intern to work closely with the VP of Marketing & Development on short-term strategic projects focused on customer retention and cultivation. This is a strategic and hands-on role that is both on the ground at program gathering content, as well as in the office strategizing and executing campaigns. As a Marketing & Development Intern, you’ll be helping to ensure awareness of programs for kids across New York City. Most importantly, you’ll be contributing to a supportive, safe, and fun environment for kids to grow and learn while experiencing non-stop fun!
This would be a 30-hour per week, in-person commitment with the possibility of working remotely one day per week. The internship would start between September 5th and 12th and last for 12 weeks (3 months).
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
At Kids in the Game, we strive to be the best part of every kid’s day! As a Marketing & Development Intern, you’ll be working to grow our impact in NYC by providing support to our marketing and development strategies. You’ll work independently and alongside other team members to plan, implement, and execute projects under the direction of the VP of Marketing & Development. You’ll be a part of our Kids in the Game community.
At the end of the day, you’ll be able to participate in company wide staff events where you can mingle with staff from all of our programs across the city, hang-out, and unwind! As a Marketing & Development Intern, you can expect to:
Marketing tasks:
- Understand the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of our programs
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategy for a wide variety of projects
- Research and identify potential influencers and create appropriate outreach initiative
- Provide administrative aid for various projects and marketing and business development tasks
- Implement process and task management software to help our team stay on track
- Plan site visits and identify branding opportunities at our sites
- Assist in collecting assets from site visits and upload them to Dropbox
Business Development tasks:
- Have a keen understanding of Kids in the Game's target audience, parents and school leadership in NYC
- Identifying potential partnerships and building out a competitive market analysis
- Opening and maintaining communications with potential partners on the phone and via email and maintaining our Hubspot account
- Participating in marketing strategy with the M&D team
- Assisting with fundraising when needed
- Identify relationships with key decision makers at schools and potential partners
- Identify and evaluate potential new business opportunities
WHAT WE’RE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:
- Recent college graduate or Master’s degree student in a related field looking to gain valuable experience in research, marketing, and partnership cultivation
- A passion for digital marketing, sports, business development, and youth education industry; former athlete or strong connection to sport-based youth development is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite
- Strong attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong partner/customer interaction skills
- Competence in research skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- “Can-do” and “we can find a way” attitude
- Social, thoughtful communicator, and networker
