Market Analyst
Responsibilities
Data Management
-
- Read, screen, analyze raw data coming from various sources on a day to day basis, either quantitative data (flows statistics, customs statistics, port statistics, …) or qualitative
- Conduct relevant research using various sources, from electronic database, websites, and other published sources, using sophisticated search engines, query tools, and other web technologies
- Set up/maintain/improve our commodities databases, statistics and related news
- Suggest and implement new ideas to make the data management more efficient
- Suggest and contribute to automations of data processing and management
Information Sources

- Propose new sources of information and ways of improving the data gathering and data processing
- Provide input as far as regard new sources to be developed to complement the overall monitoring
Processes and Information Systems

- Improve and digitize data collection, processing and management processes
- Define new specifications of the BI tools used by the team to improve day-to-day activity
- Support the implementation of new digital data management and reporting tools
Reporting and Analysis

- Regular and proactive communication with trading teams in order to validate and share information
- Prepare market presentations, dashboards, reports on countries / competitors / other relevant topics and share within the organization
- Support the trading teams on their strategic initiatives by providing relevant market data and conducting market research
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative information to identify market trends and opportunities
- Produce ad hoc reports for internal customers based on publicly available information or information previously gathered to support business decisions
- Support the preparation of monthly reports and newsletters
- Visualize market data and prepare presentations
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related subject
Experience
2-4 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in seaborne logistics and data warehouse will be a definite plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical competencies / job knowledge:
- A strong mastery of Excel (Pivot table, Macros, Vlookup formulas ...). Mastery of PowerPoint
- Excellent skills in Database tools and other applications for statistical analysis
- Familiar with web technologies, business analytics tools (i.e. Qlik, Power BI) a benefit
- Knowledge of R / Python would be a plus
- Strong attention to details
