The Role: Manufacturing Control Engineer
Who are you?
The Manufacturing Control Engineer is responsible for refining & improving existing processes and supporting the development of new automation equipment/assembly lines.
The Controls Engineer will also work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire life cycle of the product and processes. He/She will work closely with our Product Design Engineering, Quality, Production and Maintenance teams to bring components from initial design, through prototype development and finally into full production.
The incumbent will play a critical role in creating world-class, high-volume Industry 4.0 manufacturing plants for Svante as we expand to meet the global demand for Carbon Dioxide capture products (Structured Adsorbent Beds – SAB).

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and balance product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead-time limits.
- Implement and support hardware and software for PLC & HMI controls for industrial automation equipment.
- Analyze of manufacturing processes and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce machinery downtime, as well as research and implement potential new equipment for manufacturing.
- Implement reliable safety control systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
- Integrate third party machines into existing control/data systems.
- Lead the transition of manual processes to automated solutions.
- Participate in evaluation of improving factory operations by leveraging advanced data analytics, such as IoT machine learning.
- Develop controls standards (internal and vendors).
- Create and maintain process control documentation.
- Promote a safe environment by advocating and support all health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or Electrical/Controls Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Applications Engineer working on automation and/or manufacturing processes.
- Experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley preferred), HMI, and RSLOGIX software.
- Controls design experience.
- Experience with Vision and Sensing systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
- Experience programming robots is a plus (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, Cobots).
- Experience using data-driven approaches such as supervised machine learning for optimizing sequential, process, discrete, drive, or motion control would be desirable.
- Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment is highly desired.
- Demonstrated leadership in a safe work practices and demonstrated ability to drive process improvements with appropriate documentation and critical analysis.
- Solid communication skills (verbal, presentation, written), with the ability to facilitate collaborative decisions amongst business and operational stakeholders.
- Advocacy and support of lean principles, and sincere, passionate belief in Svante’s values and business mission.
