Purpose of Position:
To enhance WWF’s capacity to protect the natural assets of Hong Kong and the region under rising development pressures.
Principal Functions:
- To lead the team to study biodiversity hotspots and design conservation projects in Hong Kong and the region, especially in areas under immediate development pressures such as the Northern Metropolis and Lantau.
- Work closely with the Wetlands and Oceans teams for synergy.
- Engage key stakeholders especially the Government and local communities in project areas.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Study and identify key biodiversity areas of Hong Kong, especially in areas under immediate development pressures such as the Northern Metropolis and Lantau, through field survey, literature review and expert consultation;
- Design and implement high-impact conservation projects to ensure the conservation value of priority sites is conserved and enhanced;
- Identify resources required to implement proactive conservation measures in priority sites;
- Identify, engage and maintain the good relationships with key stakeholders relevant to the project sites;
- Work closely with other teams under WWF-HK Conservation branch for synergy to maximise conservation impact;
- Develop the skills of reporting staff.
Required Skills:
- Fluent in Cantonese and English. Putonghua fluency preferred
- Computer skills (Microsoft office is a must)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated and can-do attitude
- Open-minded
- GIS skill highly desirable
- Filed identification skill of local fauna and flora groups highly desirable
- Wildlife photography skill preferred
- Drone photography skill preferred
- Team leader experiecne preferred
- Good presentation skill is preferred
Qualifications:
- Degree holder related to conservation, ecology, environmental science, or relevant disciplines
- A minimum of 3 years’ related experience
- Knowledge and experiences on local biodiversity and conservation challenges is preferable
