Reports to: M4BL Director of Finance and Operations

Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 with full health benefits for employee and

dependents, employer-funded retirement plan, remote work stipend, and 28 days of vacation

Travel required: 20%

Position Summary

M4BL seeks an experienced administrative professional to join our growing team. The Operations Manager provides critical support for M4BL’s day-to-day operations as a part of M4BL’s dynamic and evolving administrative team. The Operations Manager supports the Movement for Black Lives’ work by (A) managing the consultant and vendor contracts system, (B) managing event planning and execution, (C) ensuring that all M4BL financial and administrative files and data are secure and appropriately accessible, and (D) ensuring full business regulatory compliance across all the states/municipalities where M4BL has employees. The Operations Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Operations and works closely with other Finance & Operations team members .

May be required to work on occasional weekends and evenings as determined.

Essential Functions:

Contract Management and Organization

• Negotiate, track and oversee all contracts and agreements with external vendors and contractors.
• Serve as lead for the department on CRM EveryAction management.
• Maintain files of documents submitted by grantees, vendors, consultants, and contractors by aggregating them in our CRM, and/or other cloud-based filing systems as appropriate
• Develop and issue communications regarding program and policy updates as needed and requested by the Director of Finance and Operations
• Provide communications support via note-taking and documentation of operations-related meetings and team retreats
• Lead on calendaring group events for the Operations & Finance team
• Manage insurance requirements and compliance

Compliance

• Identify, document, track and consistently update all necessary business regulatory compliance requirements across all the states we operate and have employees in – including new states that emerge.
• Engage registered agent for new states
• Register business and/or obtain all required licenses to ensure compliance and good standing

Purchasing

• Support purchasing and inventorying of the organization’s digital solutions, computers, equipment, furniture, materials for trainings, and other assets and work tools.
• Support the Technology team in assessing the effectiveness of digital tools and conduct research on pricing and features.

Event Planning

• Create policies, procedures and tools as it relates to event planning.
• Work in partnership with other departments in execution of their team advances.
• Maintain M4BL’s travel platform and act as the primary point of contact.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2-5 years experience in a nonprofit environment  in operations or administrative lead role preferred
• Prior experience working with Social Justice Movement organizations is ideal
• Must have strong level of proficiency in managing Google Workspace for teams
• Must have experience working with cloud-based CRM systems
• Prior experience with state compliance
• Must have experience implementing, managing, and troubleshooting digital productivity tools in a remote environment.
