The Role: Xylem is looking for an energetic and driven ethics & compliance lawyer to be a key member of the legal team with responsibility over several aspects of Xylem’s ethics & compliance program, including Xylem’s global hotline, global internal and external investigations, global antitrust program, and global harassment prevention program. This person will report to the Vice President, General Counsel Compliance & Ethics.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the VP, General Counsel Compliance & Risk Management to develop and implement strategies, global policies and processes for Xylem’s ethics & compliance program
- Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues to drive implementation of the program
- Proactively build relationships throughout Xylem to gain key partner and stakeholder support and commitment
- Communicate regularly and clearly with stakeholders on strategy, developments, and trends; advise on systemic solutions that address strategy and trends
- Prepare materials for Xylem’s Board of Directors, including board presentations and investigation reports
- Prepare materials for Xylem’s quarterly Ethics Committee Review Board meetings
- Manage Xylem’s global ethics hotline, including defining the hotline requirements, developing and training users of the platform, and preparing communication materials
- Monitor, advise, and communicate to key stakeholders on trends observed in the hotline
- In close collaboration with the VP, General Counsel Compliance & Risk Management, manage Xylem’s government investigations
- Manage global internal investigation docket to ensure that reported concerns are appropriately investigated and documented, and that remedial action is taken when necessary
- Collaborate with team members to implement investigation plans and remedial actions
- In close collaboration with the VP, General Counsel Compliance & Risk Management, lead investigations of serious allegations, including on all matters relating to the FCPA, accounting or other fraud, material misrepresentations or involving senior executives
- Prepare and distribute global communications on ethics and compliance matters
- Maintain and manage Xylem’s global antitrust program, including policy, manual, and toolkit In collaboration with a cross-functional team, manage Xylem’s global harassment-prevention program
- Manage the global ombudsperson program, in collaboration with a cross-functional team including human resources
- Provide leadership and ownership of various ethics & compliance projects, depending on strategy set by the Ethics & Compliance team
- Serve as the main contact for external ethics & compliance attorneys; manage relationships and spend with external counsel across the globe
- Stay current and advise on legislative and industry developments, including monitoring trends in anticorruption, antitrust, anti-bribery and other compliance laws, regulations and policy
- Proactively identify and communicate on legal, regulatory and/or commercial risk and collaborate with business to develop mitigation actions that align with business operations; ensure that issues involving significant legal or reputational risk are escalated to the right level within the organization Assist with setting and prioritizing strategic objectives based on Xylem’s objectives and on the broader legal, regulatory and market risks and trends

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree and JD from an ABA accredited law school Admitted to and in good standing with a state bar
- 2+ years of compliance experience at a top law firm or in-house practice, preferable experience in antitrust
- Strong critical and commercial thinking skills with a commitment to open communication and exchange of views
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well independently and cross functionally
- Actively listens to and understands the perspectives of others, constructively addresses difference of opinion
- Must be a team player with the ability to take on complex problems and responsibilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple, simultaneous and complex assignments while meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities consistent with Xylem’s and the legal teams’ objectives
- Ability to identify and anticipate broader business, operational and strategic implications of both a problem and the options for resolution, recommending the solution best aligned with continuous improvement principles and relevant business and functional objectives
- Ability to manage a budget and resources
- Ability to work with stakeholders to ascertain facts and background, to evaluate relevant data, and to research and apply relevant laws, regulations and Xylem policy requirements to reach a conclusion

Further, if the Company determines this role may be performed in or from Colorado, the salary range is $120,000 to 140,000 plus bonus. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law. We offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
