The role
As a Language Technology and Information Exchange Platform Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in furthering the 4 Billion Conversations (4BC) initiative and its associated projects. Your primary responsibilities will involve designing, developing, and supporting basic architecture for an information exchange platform aimed at integrating language technology into the agricultural sector. Additionally, you will provide support services for various language technology and information exchange platform initiatives, build and nurture a supportive partner community, and engage in outreach activities to enhance the impact of the 4BC initiative.

Responsibilities
1. Information Exchange Platform Architecture:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and create a basic architecture for an information exchange platform tailored for the agricultural sector.
- Test and integrate language technology solutions within the platform to enhance communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
2. Advisory support for a number of Language Technology Initiatives linked to the 4BC initiative:
- Provide technical expertise and support for diverse projects related to language technology and information exchange platforms.
- Advise on troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring smooth functioning of various initiatives.
3. Community Building and Support in close collaboration with the organizational leadership
- Foster a strong and engaged partner community around the 4BC initiative and the information exchange platform.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for community engagement and growth.
4. Outreach and Involvement:
- Reach out to wider communities, including the DPG (Documented Process Guidelines) community, to raise awareness and promote participation in the initiative.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to involve the DPG community in the development and evolution of the information exchange platform.
5. Knowledge Sharing and Lessons Learned:
- Collect insights and lessons from the 4BC initiative and other relevant endeavors, and share them with stakeholders to nurture best practices and continuous improvement.
6. Workshops, Events, and Conferences:
- Engage the partner community through the facilitation of workshops, events, and conferences related to language technology and the information exchange platform.
- Coordinate logistics, content creation, and participant engagement for successful events.
7. Technology Resource Publishing:
- Actively participate in the process of the packaging and publishing of technology resources as DPGs (Documented Process Guidelines) and other packaged resources.
- Ensure that resources are accessible, well-documented, and align with the goals of the initiative.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field
- Proven experience in designing and developing information exchange platforms and language technology solutions
- Strong technical skills in relevant programming languages and technologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to engage diverse stakeholders
- Experience in community building, event coordination, and outreach activities
- Ability to analyze lessons learned and provide actionable insights for improvement
- Project management skills and the ability to work independently and in a team
- Experience working with or for GIZ’s FAIR Forward Initiative
