WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re currently interviewing and hiring basketball coaches to join our KING Hoops coaching network. Positions would start in September 2022 and through July 2023. Coaches would be supporting Fall (Sept.-Nov.), Winter (Dec.-Mar.), and Spring (Mar.-July) seasons.

About the role: King Hoops Basketball Coaches will lead a team and will run practices and coach in tournaments on the weekends. Coaches will be part of the KING Hoops coaching network and responsible for practice planning, facilitating practice sessions and coaching games. Your goal is the development of students' basketball skills. This also includes determining game strategy based on teams basketball skills and players abilities. As well as creating a weekly practice plan to optimize players performance

Qualifications: A basketball background is required. If you have experience coaching or training basketball, this role is for you!

Weekly**:** Our Basketball coaches are expected to work 10-20 hours per week depending on the weekend tournament schedule. Our Hoops basketball program operates 2 practices per week for 2 hours per day. As well as weekend hours which are between 5-8 depending on the tournament. Our coaches are also required to travel on the weekends within the tristate area.

Position Responsibilities:

• Teach skills and enhance children’s knowledge of the basketball game, within a group of 10-15 kids ages 11-17
• Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, strategies and fundamentals of basketball
• Provide a group and individualized practice plan for each week that provides ideas to optimize performance
• Provide game strategies based on teams skills and abilities by recognizing and using players specific talents
• Know and understand the basketball leagues rule book and any changes that are made
• Motivate, lead, and mentor players to reach their full potential
• Provide appropriate safety instruction and conduct checks on equipment and court areas to insure the overall safety of all sports equipment and spaces
• Communication with parents
• Ideally: would be able to have driver’s license and comfortable with driving in NYC and throughout the Tri-State area.

Compensation: This is a part-time stipend position. We offer a competitive salary compensation rate of a $2,000-$35,000 stipend per season for our basketball hoops coaches.

Must be:

• Able to work within a team environment and independently.
• Act as a Kids in the Game ambassador and communicate efficiently with the People & Culture and KING Hoops team to stay informed about program updates
• Be a positive and influential role model for the children you work with and contribute meaningful to the school culture while you are at the school
