Kids in the Game sport and enrichment-based programs can be found in schools and communities across New York City, serving thousands of children every year. Our goal is to provide positive experiences and opportunities through sports and creative play. We inspire kids to embrace new experiences, adopt a healthy lifestyle, and build integrity. Our work is focused on achieving five ultimate impacts:

OUR FOUNDATION

Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. As Kids in the Game continued to grow, the leadership team recognized the inequity in quality opportunities among kids growing up in different city neighborhoods. The Kids in the Game Foundation, a 501 c3 was formed to address this issue, particularly for competitive sports programs where there is a stark gap in athletic, community building, and life-skill programming opportunities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

As our Foundation continues to grow, our team is excited to continue pushing to reach more kids in more neighborhoods and create a more inclusive New York City. We are looking for a talented, dedicated individual to join our team that believes in the power of sport. We will look to our VISTA member to work independently and closely with our team to:

1. Develop growth strategies
2. Lead targeted fundraising efforts
3. Cultivate new funder relationships

We are looking for a VISTA that isn't afraid of a challenge and is excited about tackling a new project. Kids in the Game has a long history of hosting VISTA members, and we are excited to carry on the tradition and create a meaningful year of impact.

As a Foundation Development VISTA, you can expect to:

• Be a part of the 2022-2023 Up2Us Sports VISTA cohort
• Work directly with our fundraising and development team
• Spearhead initiatives in donor cultivation, targeted project funding, volunteer recruitment and stewardship
• Be a leader in developing strategies for funder sustainability and tracking through CRM
• Collaborate with all departments in the organization including Business Development, Human Resources, Finance, and Program Design, to gain a wealth of experience

UP2US VISTA BENEFITS

• As an Up2Us VISTA, you are provided a bi-weekly (14 days) living allowance in the amount of $1,027.88.
• At the completion of your VISTA contract, a cash award or educational stipend is also provided to you.
• Throughout the VISTA program, you will have access to professional development opportunities and a monthly transportation allowance.

WHAT WE’LL LOVE ABOUT YOU

• Is resourceful and comfortable operating autonomously, but won’t hesitate to ask questions when they arise
• Has experience in and a passion for sports-based youth development
• Can alternate between working with the youth and our team in equal parts
• Is able to commute throughout all 5 boroughs of NYC when required
• Can handle influxes in workload and executes tasks on time with a high level of attention to detail
• Works very well with other people and is an effective communicator.
• Open to feedback to continuously improve and grow
