Program/Department Overview
The intern will sit within the Justice and Equity Team led by the VP for Environmental Justice and Equity.The Justice and Equity Team focuses on helping equip the Mission staff to achieve their EJ objectives while establishing accountability for progress. The team provides resources and expertise to support EDF staff in the areas of organizational readiness, building and maintaining authentic partnerships, systemic change and building external capacity for frontline groups.
Overall Function
The intern will be responsible for reviewing, researching, identifying, and organizing a robust set of environmental justice resources into the Center of Practice (CoP) that can be accessed and utilized by EDF staff to drive forward their EJ objectives. The Intern will also synthesize existing presentations and informational materials to create a library of graphics, slides, and messaging for the Justice and Equity Team, with standardized language and design across materials. Finally, this individual will be identifying a vetting process for recommending organizations that provide nonprofits with skilled volunteer professionals, provide operational support staff, or technical expertise. This position may involve close collaboration with the EJ Council and Community Engagement Team.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Research Environmental and Climate Justice, Environmental Racism, Environmental History, Environmental Policy, etc.
Work with the Justice and Equity Team, Community Engagement Team, EJ Council, and potential opportunities to collaborate with other teams and interns.
Synthesize gaps in current materials and opportunities to better equip staff with educational materials on Environmental and Climate Justice.
Organize research and materials into an organized curation of leading Justice and Equity resources.
Review and compile existing resources, reports, and communications materials to create a master set of graphics, slides, and messaging for the Justice and Equity team.
Collaborate with Justice and Equity team members to identify and supplement gaps in existing resources, creating new materials as appropriate.
Create and circulate communications materials to promote the Center of Practice internally and expand its reach to EDF staff.
Create a joint list of organizations that provide nonprofits with skilled volunteer professionals, provide operational support staff or technical expertise.
Participate in advancing EDF diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Compensation
This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $17/hr.
