Junior Piping Designer

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently has an exciting opportunity for a CAD Technologist/Designer with a focus on mechanical/piping. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Mining and Minerals, this position is in our Vancouver, BC office.

This is an entry level role and the ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, strong communication skills, and be detail oriented. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic and growing team who uses their technical expertise to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges. Key Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for drawing preparation from conceptual details to working layout drawings for a variety of mechanical and piping projects
• Drawings include PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and other drawings as required
• 3D modelling of process plants equipment and piping
• Produce high-quality engineering drawings in an accurate and efficient manner
• Ability to work under supervision of engineers or senior designers
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to identify, prioritize, and manage workload to meet deadlines
• Maintain a strong work ethic
• Ability to work collaboratively with other team members
• Ability to adapt to client constraints and preferences

Skills / Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Computer Aided Design (mechanical would be considered an asset)
• 0-2 years’ experience in design and drafting
• Experience in AutoCAD
• Experience in 3D modelling software
• Excellent communication (both written and spoken) and relationship-building skills. Must be able to engage and interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Have a demonstrated track record of self-management and team work
• Effective/competent MS Office Suite User and learning internal Wood software
• Must be Canadian Citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada, without sponsorship from Wood
