Junior Laboratory Technologist/Chemist

The Role: Junior Laboratory Technologist/Chemist

Who are you?

The Junior Laboratory Technologist/Chemist will be responsible to perform product evaluation and characterization using laboratory equipment. This work will include analyzing samples, conducting various laboratory/process tests and creating detailed reports. This person will be supporting the Active Material Process Development Team by carrying out tasks and projects related to the scale-up of mixing and coating activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting product performance evaluations, defining chemical and physical attributes of adsorbent and laminates.
  • Executing mixing and coating experiments from lab scale to pilot scale.
  • Characterizing slurry, laminate, and raw materials using analytical instruments as required.
  • Collecting and interpreting test data.
  • Generating detailed laboratory reports summarizing research and development efforts.
  • Providing technical support for the laboratory instruments and processing equipment.
  • Maintaining a secure clean and safe work environment.
  • Carrying out other related tasks and projects as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Degree or Diploma in a science or engineering in related field.
  • Experience:

    • 1- 2 years of experience with industry accepted analytical testing methods and equipment.
    • Experience working with powders and slurry formulation an asset.
  • Knowledge:

    • Familiarity with Analytical instruments (such as TGA, rheometer, PSD, Instron) is preferred.
    • Good knowledge of MS Office.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills and data presentation.
  • Characteristics:

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Interpersonal skills in establishing cooperative working relationships.
    • High level of initiative.
    • Good time management, with ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail.
