The Oversight Board makes binding and independent decisions about the most challenging content issues on Facebook and Instagram.  Members of the Board include Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark, Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Michael McConnell, Director of Stanford’s Constitutional Law Center, and may other diverse leaders and thinkers from around the world.  The Board issued its first decisions in January 2021.

The Oversight Board Administration is the team of full-time staff who supports Board Members in carrying out their duties. The Administration has a presence in London, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and operates with a global scope.

Role

Joining the Oversight Board Administration is a chance to be part of an organization which is leading on some of the most challenging issues facing the tech industry and society.

This is a 12-month fixed term position and the role reports to the HR Manager for the Oversight Board.

People at the Oversight Board Administration are the core strategic driver of our success. The People Team therefore strives to provide unique experiences for all staff working for the Oversight Board. As such, the Global HR Generalist will play a crucial role contributing to the organization by developing and implementing progressive HR solutions to support an amazing and innovative culture at the Oversight Board Administration. The incumbent in this position will work closely with the HR Business Partner, HR Manager and Head of HR Compliance to ensure consistency in the implementation of policies and procedures, across the People Team spectrum.

The post holder will be part of a highly cross-functional team and will leverage prior HR generalist and HR business partner experience to develop a trusted adviser relationship with managers while supporting the critical ongoing compliance work. The post holder will hold considerable experience managing HRIS systems, managing US and UK jurisdictional compliance initiatives as well as leading and facilitating global payroll and benefit administration. The Global HR Generalist will work with the Head of HR Compliance in a true generalist role to identify HR compliance priorities across all regions of the Oversight Board to ensure that HR policies, procedures and initiatives are fully aligned with the Oversight Board’s objectives. Therefore, the post holder will possess a deep understanding and knowledge of the compliance frameworks of the various jurisdictions within which OSB operates (US, UK and ideally within the EU).  As the Oversight Board continues its trajectory, the post holder will be required to assist with adhoc projects and processes (inc. recruitment) as needed.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting, developing and managing employee-related human resource processes and policies, including recruitment, benefit and payroll administration, and key projects linked to performance management, learning and development and tactical HR functioning;
  • Managing, supporting and facilitating organizational design and development including organization-wide team building in support of cross-team collaboration;
  • Supporting the overall design and development of entity creation as we look to expand the Operations function as a shared service division;
  • Proactively assessing employees’ development needs, making recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions;
  • Ensuring compliance with local regulations and employment law.

This role will be based at the Administration's UK location in London. Oversight Board offers flexible hybrid remote working.

Skills and Experience

Successful candidates are likely to have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong track record of delivering a people strategy that has involved the following areas; resourcing, on-boarding, recognition, engagement and wellbeing, and performance development.
  • Experience managing payroll and benefits (desirable).
  • Business Partner experience in organizational design and reorg advantageous.
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively to create a true business partner approach to working with fellow colleagues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, stakeholder management skills with the style and ability to gain the trust of employees at every level across the organisation.
  • Proven expertise in delivering accurate and effective HR administration processes.
  • Experience in engaging and supporting organisation managers and employees with human resources questions.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK employment law with EU and US employment law knowledge advantageous.
  • A flexible mindset and ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
