We are growing our team and are looking for a Junior Chemical Engineering Technician to join our team and support our green ammonia production project. This position will report to the COO, dotted line to the Chemical Engineering Lead. As we are a growing organization, the reporting structure may shift in the near future. This position is available for immediate start.

Our lead product, an onsite, containerized Green Ammonia production system that is modular and scalable, will revolutionize clean energy through a patent-pending, first-of-its-kind technology invented in Canada. Adoption will dramatically support global targets to reduce CO2 emissions. And our decentralized, in situ approach will bring supply chain independence to our first customers – farmers – for the first time.

What YOU will do:
Working alongside our Chemical Engineering Lead, you will be advancing our current technologies pertaining to the generation of hydrogen, nitrogen, and ammonia. Your objective is to support the commercializing of our green ammonia production systems along with developing technological advancements in the areas of electrolyzers, catalysts, membrane technologies and separation. You will work on providing on-site calibration, and validating gas compositions, purity of gases and energy consumption. You will be supporting the analysis by providing mass, energy, and entropy balance analysis, along with preparing design calculation and design briefs for prototype and research equipment. Additionally, you will work to carry out technical evaluation of process and developed systems through energy efficiencies. In addition, you will be supporting documentation, preparing equipment specifications, data sheets, developing process design criteria as a basis of the process design. You will spend a considerable amount of time conducting tests/experiments, inspecting, cleaning, assembling, mounting, setting up, testing, and troubleshooting parts, equipment, and systems. You will also support testing on ammonia generation system and partake in the creation of test plans. Does this sound like fun? Keep reding.
Safety is a priority for everything we do, so you will participate in the safety engineering process in every step of the process. Additional responsibilities will include operating chemical process testing equipment, control room, and hands on process monitoring, conducting basic chemical analytics and lab characterization procedures.

You have completed a degree in Chemical Engineering and have experience in ammonia synthesis and chemical fertilizer industry. You have at least 2 years of experience working on/with industrial equipment and/or pilot plants. Your background has exposed you to thermodynamics, energy, and exergy efficiency techniques. You have a basic knowledge of pressurized equipment involving hydrogen and ammonia. You are used to a fast-paced, safety driven culture. Additionally, you possess the ability to communicate clearly, whether it is with your colleagues, suppliers, clients, or other stakeholders – talking to people and getting your message across in a positive and collaborative way is a strength of yours. Above all, you are a true team player at heart, willing to lend a hand whenever needed. You are also able to provide reports on findings in a concise and thoughtful manner for a variety of audiences. While this position is focused within the Waterloo Region in Ontario, travel may be required to support existing installations and future projects.
