Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has seven offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In Brazil, CPI has a partnership with PUC-Rio. CPI/PUC-Rio supports public policies in Brazil through evidence-based research and strategic partnerships with members of the government and civil society.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Senior Analyst and guidance of the Program Director, the Junior Analyst/ Analyst will participate in the development of robust and careful empirical analysis of agriculture, land use, energy, and infrastructure development. The ideal candidate for the position is focused, self-driven, and empirically curious. CPI expects the Analyst to produce high-quality materials under demanding deadlines, so the ideal candidate must also systematically demonstrate acute attention to detail and a strong capacity to prioritize when simultaneously tackling multiple tasks. The Analyst will also help in drafting policy reports and will interact with policymakers and stakeholders in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
In conducting analysis, the Analyst is required to work in close cooperation with a range of partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams throughout the world.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following and others as assigned:
Data Handling and Analysis: Effectively manage diverse data formats, (collect, clean, and process) in various formats from diverse sources, constructing and executing procedures for statistical and econometric analyses.
Analytical Output: Generate and format analytical outputs, including tables, graphs, and maps to visually represent research findings.
Content Production: Collaborate closely with the Communications team in the writing and editing of high-quality CPI products, encompassing technical papers, comprehensive reports, policy briefs, white papers, and presentations.
Engagement and Communication: Engage with policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders from the private and non-profit sectors throughout the research process. Communicate the implications of research findings effectively.
Research Integrity: Strictly adhere to transparent and reproducible research requirements in the execution of daily tasks.
Other: Be open to (domestic) travel if required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Beneficial
Master’s degree in economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related, quantitatively rigorous field strongly preferred.
Previous professional experience in a relevant field, ideally with a focus on agriculture, energy, infrastructure and land use.
Experience analysing economics of policy choices, and/or energy, infrastructure, adaptation, agriculture/land use finance.

Position details
CPI is recruiting for one full-time position in our Rio de Janeiro office.
CPI has adopted a hybrid working policy whereby staff are able to mix working remotely with two regular days in the Rio de Janeiro office.
CPI offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes 20 days leave + office closure between Christmas and New Year, 5 days study leave, $500 training budget, health insurance.
Salaries are based on experience and market.
