Summary of Role:

The Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing renewable energy project opportunities within the renewable energy space in Japan.

What you will do?

  • Working with the country team build Mainstream RP’s presence in the renewable energy market by by:
    • Working with your domestic and international colleagues identify promising opportunities
    • Assessing opportunity feasibility on commercial, technical, regulatory and stakeholder grounds
    • Identifying resources required to bring promising projects to financial close
    • Securing buy in from colleagues and management
  • Once management buy in is secured ensure projects are developed in accordance with Mainstream’s Global Development Standards, corporate values and processes, specifically
    • Working closely with key stakeholders in the local communities to get their buy in and maintain support for the renewable energy projects under development
    • Work with the team members to secure all third-party consents necessary to build and operate renewable energy facilities
    • Manage aspects of the grid connection process
  • Follow and implement formal reporting guidelines for reporting on project progress
  • Work with local and and regional colleagues in due diligence of acquisition opportunities, reviewing early stage opportunities including teasers and IM’s and assessing project viability

What We Require:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline

  • Excellent people skills, able to understand local stakeholder voices and their issues and respond appropriately

  • Superior communications skills, able to build good rapport at all levels of government and in local communities

  • Good project management skills, can manag and delegate to internal and external resources

  • A self-starter with a "can-do" attitude who demonstrates hands-on accountability for their area of responsibility

  • Ability to use Microsoft software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook is essential

  • Driver’s license required

  • Flexibility to travel on a regular basis is essential. Domestic with some international travel is to be expected
