Climate Fund Managers (CFM) is a leading climate-centric blended finance fund manager. It raises and deploys climate finance funds in partnership at scale and at pace. Through its award-winning model, CFM has created a blueprint for a new generation of climate financiers, whose collective impact can help end the climate crisis. CFM currently manages two emerging market infrastructure funds focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation: Climate Investor One, a c. USD 1 billion fund focused on renewable energy, and Climate Investor Two, a c. USD 1 billion fund focused on water, sanitation and oceans infrastructure. CFM is currently implementing further blended finance initiatives in the green hydrogen, power transmission and cities sectors focused on development, equity, private credit and guarantee financial instruments.
Established in 2015, CFM is a joint venture between the Dutch Development Bank, FMO, and Sanlam InfraWorks, part of the Sanlam Group of South Africa with offices in The Hague, Cape Town, Singapore and Bogota.
Job Purpose
1.1 Key Duties & Responsibilities
The role will chiefly be responsible for:
- Performing financial due diligence and analysis on prospective projects
- Support investment team across all facets of deal activity and process life cycles
- Evaluating prospective projects based on the fund’s investment policy and mandate
- Prepare and maintained project finance-based financial models for investments including return analysis, investment value drivers, sensitivity
- Analyses, and refinancing and exit scenarios
- Financial analysis of potential financing and investment structures
- Preparation of reports and information memoranda and prospectus
- Presentation to potential and current investors on specific investments
- Developing and negotiating investment agreements and equity
- Documents including joint development agreements; shareholders
- Agreements; equity instruments (ordinary shares; preference shares;
- shareholder loans; mezzanine instruments).
- Drafting MOUs, joint development agreements and investment term
- Carrying out due diligence on potential investments
- Preparation of investment proposals for the investment committee
- Liaising with fund managers, company managers, external legal, financial, tax and technical advisors to execute and/or monitor an investment
- Conducting market research on the industry and gather market
- intelligence to support investment strategies and or assessment of investment opportunities
- Participating in financial briefing provided by the investment managers, internally and externally.
- Manage processes associated with compliance, governance and internal approvals in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as may be assigned
1.2 Qualifications, Experience & Skillset
Required
- Must possess a Bachelors Degree in business or commerce, finance
- Post Graduate degree preferred
- Advanced excel skills
- Advanced project finance financial modelling skills
- Experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking or M&A advisory
- Infrastructure experience
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets and instruments
- Good working knowledge of key commercial statutes and regulations
- 3-5 years’ experience in relevant field
- Basic understanding of the products offered by CFM and their benefits
