This 3-months position based in E3G’s Brussels office will support the climate neutral energy system team to drive strong action on decreasing gas use across the EU. This role will support E3G’s assessment of the Fit for 55 and REPowerEU strategies by conducting research, specifically on the National Energy and Climate Plans, as well as assisting in organizing workshops and engaging with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) according to the benchmarking methodology developed by E3G.
  • Conduct clear and accessible research and analysis to inform policy briefings, reports, and presentations related to gas policies at the EU level.
  • Assist in drafting and disseminating E3G policy briefings, reports, and blogs specific to gas-related topics in the EU.
  • Monitor and analyse EU climate policy and political developments in the EU, with a focus on gas-related initiatives. Share relevant updates with the EU Gas Team and conduct further research on key topics as required.
  • Serve as an internal point of expertise on gas-related matters at the EU level, providing proactive updates and analysis to E3G colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination of external and internal meetings related to gas policies at the EU level, including managing shared calendars, events databases, and taking minutes.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will be a team player. Key traits include being detail orientated, with strong research and organisational skills and the ability to summarise detailed information into clear outputs for the team.

Requirements include:

  • Interest in climate change and EU climate and energy policy.
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office products including Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and with managing information (e.g. stakeholder lists, calendars).
  • Experience drafting documents and summarising complex information.
  • Experience with organising and supporting events is desirable.
  • Familiarity with climate and energy policies in the EU is desirable, including relevant legislative files (e.g. Fit for 55, REPowerEU, National Energy and Climate Plans, etc).
  • Familiarity with the EU political process is desirable, including experience with political outreach.

Further details

This role is located in Brussels. E3G operates a flexible working environment, with staff expected to come to the office at least twice a week on average.
