Analyst – EU/UK Carbon Markets

🌟 The role

The role reports into the Head of Market Analysis and Research and is responsible for assisting in key research, analytical and operational tasks to support our commercial teams and clients. You are an ideal candidate if you have a good interest and knowledge (Thesis?) in research and analysis for the carbon or energy markets and wish to continue building your expertise with a strong business focus for a leading trading company. Your analysis and communication skills will have a direct impact on the largest polluters across Europe by supporting our commercial teams with actionable intelligence. We are aware of proud to be considered thought leaders on the market and we are looking for a high-potential individual who can carry the reputation forward.

Responsibilities

  • Support the analyst team in their support of the commercial teams and clients
  • Input to R&D of data-driven quantitative market models to predict market variables
  • Together with an experienced analyst your focus will be on EU ETS and UK ETS for the following:
    • Analyze aspects of the major drivers of carbon markets
    • Analyze market developments and predict impact on supply/demand
    • Maintenance and enhancement of our database
  • Work with a dynamic team of 3-4 carbon market analysts
  • Support business with ad-hoc research when unexpected market developments occur
  • Constantly learn about relevant markets and quantitative forecasting techniques
  • Work on your own projects, based on relevant and ad hoc demand

Qualifications

  • Analytical mindset
  • Some background in energy/climate analytics desired
  • Critical thinking, and solid numerical ability
  • Strong business acumen to develop executable trading ideas
  • Programming skills (ie. Python) & SQL are an advantage
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Reliability and integrity
