The Role: Xylem is seeking Intern candidates with an Information Technology background to join our team for a summer internship. The duties of this internship will range across the spectrum of supporting and implementing complex solutions around business need. This description is intended for the opportunity on the infrastructure team.
Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you.
The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Maintain project artifacts, manage data-points, and develop project reports
- Maintain on-going communication with project stakeholders, focusing on project strategy and goals
- Create and update datacenter infrastructure documentation
- Create and update DHCP Scopes in a Windows Server
- Work with internal Network team to identify DCHP scopes, plan and execute DHCP consolidation tasks
- Work with Service Delivery teams to plan and execute Windows Server Printer migrations to Universal Print (M365)
- Perform datacenter management tasks within VMWare
- Maintain policy and procedure documentation related to cloud adoption strategy
- Assist with upgrading the software for hardware virtualization
- Clear configurations from old VMware hosts
- Validate and update infrastructure Inventories
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program in Information Systems, Information Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field. Must be in at least junior standing as of the Fall, 2022 semester.
- Able to partner with and work closely with internal Network and Service Delivery teams on project related needs
- Familiarity with virtualization concepts (VMware)
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and services (Azure, AWS, etc.)
- Familiarity with network and storage concepts
- Familiarity with Microsoft office products, with ability to learn internal systems.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong decision making and organizational skills required
- Ability to effectively and professionally present information in one-on-one and small group organization
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
