The Role:  Xylem is seeking an Intern to join as an Electrical Engineer for Summer 2023. As a member of the Electrical Engineering Team, the incumbent will develop and implement utility metering products involving complex RF communications, tooling, electronics, software and embedded systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that project initiatives are met. Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you.

The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for an intern is between $21.00 - $27.00/hour. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.

We want someone who:

• Is interested in working with the development of micro-controller or DSP based or embedded systems
• Is interested in developing the building blocks for new core features and functionality for future products.
• Wants to participate in the selection and development of suitable RF components and development tools.
• Desire and ability to learn new tools, languages and design techniques.
• Has a strong sense of ownership and drive
• Is passionate about embedded systems, circuit boards, PCB schematics/layouts
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Has strong customer focus

Some of the things we need to see in every candidate:

• Pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Exposure to RF and/or analog and digital electronic/embedded design.
• Some exposure to common test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and frequency analyzers is also highly desired.
• Solid understanding of analog and digital circuitry
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally with both local and remote sites
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
• Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams

It would be awesome if you:

• Were the Lead Engineer for your last academic project
• Have exposure assisting with the development and testing/verifying of embedded systems
• Have exposure assisting Quality Assurance and Marketing in investigating and analyzing defective product returned from customers.
• Had exposure to a fast paced team environment where you have interfaced regularly with electrical, back-end software, mechanical and system test engineers on system level design development
