Your opportunity
Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist or Environmental Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at any of the following Dillon offices across Canada, as a remote based position supporting our Ontario team.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Project Management & Design (87%)
- Environmental (Hydrogeology) Lead for a large scale projects with responsibilities that include:

- Lead Hydrogeology team and liaise with other disciplines
- Lead the preparation of deliverables related to hydrogeology /contamination
- Support in-market process
- Review specifications, submittals and contract documents
- Review contractor submissions, respond to requests for information
- Conduct technical reviews and coordinate with other technical support staff as needed
- Coordinate with Engineers and design compliance manager and other design reviewers to resolve conflicting comments
- Manage and lead the preparation of technical reports that may include: hydrogeological assessments, studies to support Permits to Take Water/ Environmental Activity and Sector Registry submissions Phase I/II/III ESAs, conceptual site models, remedial options analysis, remedial action plans, tender packages (including technical specifications and contract drawings), and cost estimates
- Lead and oversee the design and implementation of sampling programs for the collection of soil, groundwater, surface water and sediments
- Comply with corporate, client, and site-specific health and safety protocols and programs and applicable health and safety regulations
- Work with senior specialists and technical teams on development of remedial and/or risk management options
Business Development (10%)
- Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work and develop strong client relationships
- Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders
Learning & Development (3%)
- A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
- Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
- Ten or more years of experience in hydrogeology or environmental engineering consulting
- Strong background in physical and chemical hydrogeology, contaminated sites management, remediation, construction projects and health and safety
- A degree in earth science/hydrogeology, environmental engineering, geology, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Licensed to practice as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer (or eligible for transfer of registration from another Canadian jurisdiction)
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Passionate about personal and professional growth, working collaboratively to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations, and developing innovative solutions
- Has or is fully able to obtain Federal Security Status
- Valid Driver’s License
Experience
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary projects and providing consulting services in the field of hydrogeology, particularly linear infrastructure/transit projects
- Demonstrated understanding of environmental regulations related to contaminated sites, hydrogeology, and excess soil management in Ontario an asset (e.g. O. Reg. 153, O. Reg. 903, O. Reg. 406, R.R.O. Reg. 347, etc.)
- Experience with contract administration and construction observation
- Technical proficiency in several or many of the following will be considered an asset: groundwater modelling, excess soils management, Ontario Regulation 406/19, landfill hydrogeology.
