Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for Intermediate Excess Soils / Environmental Site Assessment Professional to join our multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available in any one of our Ontario offices or remote locations will be considered depending on the experience of the candidate.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Technical Project Delivery (92%)

  • Provide technical support for projects related to the assessment and management of environmental contaminants in soil, groundwater, and other media, including excess soils management (O.Reg. 406/19),  phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition (O.Reg. 153 RSC) process and remediation in Ontario
  • Leading and/or contributing to technical work relating to excess soils management in Ontario (O.Reg. 406/19)
  • Supporting the transition of Phased ESA/RSC to Risk Assessment is considered an asset
  • Prepare and manage: health and safety programs for field projects, coordinate field programs (related to collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediments, indoor air, soil vapour, etc), prepare project contracts and agreements, complete sub-contractor selection and oversight, and organize/manage field teams
  • Compliance with corporate, client, and site-specific health and safety protocols and programs and applicable health and safety regulations
  • Working with senior specialists, lead the management and interpretation of data including the presentation of data in data tables and figures
  • Work with senior specialists and technical teams on development of remedial and/or risk management options
  • Potentially act as main point of contact/client liaison to communicate technical and project management information to client teams

Business Development (5%)

  • Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders
  • Business travel and field work may be required from time to time

Learning & Development (3%)

  • Actively participate in the career development of peers and junior staff including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contributions to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental engineering, geoscience, or another relevant environmental discipline.
  • Minimum six years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience, including project management experience
  • In depth knowledge of the required regulations governing contaminated sites and environmental work in Ontario (e.g. O.Reg. 153/04, O. Reg. 903, O. Reg. 406/19, R.R.O. Reg. 347, etc.)

Experience

  • Technical proficiency in several or many of the following will be considered an asset: site characterization, excess soils management, geology, hydrogeology, field procedures, chemistry, remediation, cost estimation, contracting/construction administration and/or observation, hazardous materials, risk assessment, data management, health and safety.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Committed to a culture of quality including a keen attention to detail.
  • Passionate about personal and professional growth, working collaboratively to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations, and developing innovative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in multidisciplinary teamwork as well as the ability to work independently
  • Proven experience managing multiple contaminated sites/ESA related projects of various overall project value (e.g., $5000 - $100,000+) considered an asset
  • Has or is fully able to obtain Federal Security Status (Reliability or greater) and satisfactorily passes a police check
  • Management/coordination of projects in remote and urban locations
  • Experience with geological/geotechnical investigations (e.g., tunnelling, mining, aggregate) considered an asset
  • Experience in technical support to large multi-disciplinary projects (e.g., Environmental Assessments, transportation, transit projects, etc) considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office family of products
  • Valid Driver’s License
