Your opportunity
Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for an Intermediate Environmental Professional to join our multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
This position is available at the St. John’s office.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Project Management & Implementation (87%)
- Manage and complete contaminated sites projects in Atlantic Canada, including: Phase I, II & III ESAs, hydrogeological investigations, soil and groundwater sampling programs, surface water and sediment sampling programs, soil vapour sampling, and contaminated site remediation projects.
- Prepare, coordinate and manage: written reports, field programs, health and safety plans for field programs, project contracts and agreements, sub-contractor selection and agreements, and other supporting documentation.
- Understand environmental regulations related to contaminated sites work in Atlantic Canada and other jurisdictions (e.g., Federal Lands, provinces or territories).
- Provide site supervision/contract administration on contaminated site and remediation projects that require a combination of technical depth and management skills in the field.
- Training junior technical staff in contaminated sites projects.
- Ability to travel and conduct field work in urban and remote locations within Newfoundland and Labrador.
Business Development (10 %)
- Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work and develop strong client relationships.
- Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders.
- Lead or support in the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients.
Learning & Development (3%)
- A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
- Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
- A diploma in environmental or civil engineering technology, degree in environmental sciences, degree in engineering, or a related environmental field.
- Certification or designation through AETTNL (C.E.T.), Environmental Professional (EP), or Association of professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (P.Eng/P.Geo) would be considered an asset.
- 5 years of experience or more in environmental consulting or related industry experience as an environmental professional and project manager.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Experience
- Experience in several of: collection and analysis of field data, management of health and safety on projects, environmental site assessments and site characterization with technical experience in chemistry, geology, hydrogeology, remediation engineering, site characterization, environmental management, health and safety considered an asset
- Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies.
- Experience in training staff on field programs will be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Committed to a culture of quality including a keen attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in several of: CAD, GIS, Surfer, GINT, ESDat or database abilities will be an asset.
