WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ICT Support Officer requires broad technical knowledge and systems management experience. They also must work well with people and coordinate efforts with Cuso International’s ICT Team based at headquarters and any regional ICT support staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Business management:
- Help establish, communicate, and maintain organization-wide ICT policies
- Maintain accurate asset management records in collaboration with the Finance and Administration team
- In collaboration with the Country Program Offices (CPO) Finance Officers in Africa and HQ-based ICT Manager, research and negotiate contracts for the purchase and/or lease of new office equipment
- Support development of budgets and forecasting ICT costs and expenses
- Dispose of unneeded ICT equipment and media in a secure and environmentally responsible manner
Security:
- Ensure networks, information systems and data are accessible only by authorized staff
- Implement and maintain tools to protect the organization’s networks, information systems and data against computer viruses, spam, network intrusion, and related threats
- Maintain an appropriate CPO data backup regime
- Verify backups are functional and safely stored
- Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan for data stored across all CPOs
- Ensure employees are storing their data in the right place where they will be backed up.
Configuration and change management:

Install, configure and manage:
- Desktop hardware (workstations, laptops), system software (Windows operating system, anti-virus, printer drivers etc...) and application software for staff, volunteers and Youth Resource Centers (YRC).
- Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader, clients for main line-of-business applications.

Network hardware (switches, firewall appliance, LAN/WAN, wireless access points) where applicable

Printers, scanners and other peripherals
Operations and performance management:
- Develop and implement routine software and hardware maintenance procedures
- Monitoring network and application performance to support capacity planning
- Train staff when required on ICT tools
Helpdesk support:
- Respond to and manage service requests from staff across all African CPOs,
- Provideremote ICT support as required to Africa CPO staff
- When necessary, escalate issues to the second level of support (Manager, IT Services)
SharePoint Management:
- Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of SharePoint server farms, databases, and other infrastructure components. This includes ensuring that the infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and secure.
- Work closely with Cuso staff to provide support in creating and configuring SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, workflows, web parts, and other SharePoint components.
- Responsible for administering SharePoint sites, user permissions, and other security settings.
- Provide training and support to Cuso Staff, which may involve creating training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Ensuring SharePoint use is compliant with Cuso’s organizational policies. This includes implementing governance processes, enforcing security controls, and auditing SharePoint usage from time to time.
Other responsibilities:
The ICT Support Officer is expected to work effectively as part of a small team, and in particular:
- Undertake specific additional responsibilities from time-to-time, as may be agreed upon with the line manager
- Provide coverage for other staff when needed
- Occasionally work outside of normal business hours
- As Cuso International implements and updates information systems and technologies, the ICT Support Officer is expected to assist and represent the CPO’s particular circumstances, opportunities and constraints.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- College degree in Computer Science or equivalent diploma
- Strong analytic and technical troubleshooting skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience configuring and supporting networks and related equipment and services: LAN, WAN, wireless networks; DNS, DHCP; networked printers/peripherals and shared folders; firewall appliances, VPN
- Significant experience supporting and using Microsoft’s Office 365 / Sharepoint / OneDrive
- Proven experience managing:
- Microsoft Azure (Creating and managing users)
- Windows-based servers with Active Directory
- Windows 10 / 11 workstations and laptops
- Office 365 implementations on workstations
- Mobile ICT devices including tablets and smartphones
- Excellent ability to organize and prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English and/or French
Desirable:
- Prior experience training or teaching
