The Industrial Controls & Automation Project Engineering Specialist is responsible for developing and executing Capex investment projects at the INNIO Waukesha - Welland Facility
Essential Responsibilities:
- Identify, plan, initiate and manage new equipment installation projects throughout the facility
- Initial focus will be on risk mitigation & capacity expansion activities within the Engine test cell operations
- Manage and implement multiple projects including scope & specification development, scheduling, vendor management and budget control
- Coordinate project implementation with the Operations team
- Develop, implement and document necessary electrical & control hardware and software for both new and retooled manufacturing processes
- Participate in LEAN manufacturing initiatives using Six Sigma tools to implement process improvements in coordination with cross-functional Operations team members
- Develop and document site-specific electrical/controls engineering specifications to act as a baseline for new equipment design & project scoping
- Support the ongoing Industry 4.0 Digital transformation of the facility by collaborating on IT-led initiatives such as the development and implementation of selected digital solutions used for OEE improvements, expansion of CMMS across the site, expansion of networking infrastructure, and development of IoT Edge connectivity.
- Identify new opportunities that support the growth of the facility with an emphasis on Automation adoption where feasible
Your Profile:
- Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering technology diploma or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- Project management experience including specification writing, contractor & timeline management, and coordination within a manufacturing environment
- Lean Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
- Experience with machine tool automation & instrumentation, with a deep understanding of PLC programming and equipment motion control fundamentals
- Experience with robotic controls and integration with machine tool automation
- Knowledgeable in CNC machining operations and programming fundamentals
- Knowledge of engine components and related machining & assembly processes
- Fundamental knowledge of dynamometer testing of internal combustion engines would be an asset
- Able to manage multiple diverse activities simultaneously and succeed in a self-directed team environment
- Able to adapt to the constant changing demands of a manufacturing facility
- Strong interpersonal, technical, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Able to analyze problems, identify root causes, and provide efficient solutions
