Overview
World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a graduate-level, Earth for Life Communications Intern supporting knowledge management between April to June 2023.
Main Function
This part-time, paid internship is based in the US and will provide an opportunity for a graduate student to support internal and programmatic communications for a team focused on long-term, large-scale area-based conservation and the benefits those initiatives can generate for communities, climate, and biodiversity. We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about conservation and communities with experience making complex topics accessible, a history of leadership, and an eagerness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Performs research, writing, and analysis of topics related to area-based conservation and works closely with colleagues and external experts from inception through production and distribution of materials.
- Coordinating content review to support the various channels managed within WWF-US Marketing and Communications, donor communications, and other WWF offices. Ensures consistent messaging for key external and internal audiences.
- Supports communications requests and fact-checking associated with institutional communication needs including responding to requests for information.
- Creates and maintains internal communications platforms as needed (e.g., email listservs, Facebook Workplace presence, file sharing systems etc.).
- Supports internal knowledge sharing and learning to promote collaboration and increase internal technical capacities via activities like resource and interest mapping, collecting and sharing best practices, and strategic internal communications (e.g., webinar coordination, workshop design, learning materials production support etc.).

Qualifications
- Graduate student
- Interest in the intersections of conservation, Indigenous peoples and local communities, sustainable development, and sustainable finance
- Solutions-oriented and proactive in creative critical thinking
- Strong relational skills with a willingness to work both collaboratively and independently
- Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills guided by attention to detail
- Experience developing messaging and identifying stories that illustrate those messages desired
- Comfortable with Microsoft tools (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Demonstrates a history of leadership, initiative, and accountability for work

Compensation: Paid, $21 per hour
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours a week, April 1-June 30, 2023
