Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks an Earth for Life Communications Intern.

Main Function

This paid internship is based in the US and will provide an opportunity for a college-level senior or graduate student to play a role in building out programmatic communications for a team focused on long-term, large-scale area-based conservation and the benefits those initiatives can generate for communities, climate, and biodiversity. Specifically, the intern will work on projects to develop key communications materials and contribute to communications strategy development. We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about conservation and communities with experience making complex topics accessible, a history of leadership, and an eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Research, writing, and analysis of topics related to area-based conservation, particularly Project Finance for Permanence (PFPs) and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs);
  • Develop set of informational documents on key topics and corresponding set of vetted facts for programmatic and external communications;
  • Assist in developing updated/expanded messaging related to area-based conservation, communities, sustainable development, and durable finance mechanisms;
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • College-level senior or graduate student
  • Interest in the intersections of conservation, Indigenous peoples and local communities, sustainable development, and sustainable finance
  • Solutions-oriented and proactive in creative critical thinking
  • Strong relational skills with a willingness to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills guided by attention to detail
  • Experience developing messaging and identifying stories that illustrate those messages desired
  • Comfortable with Microsoft tools (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Demonstrates a history of leadership, initiative, and accountability for work
  • Identifies and aligns with the core values of the WWF organization: Courage, Integrity, Respect & Collaboration

    • Builds trust with colleagues by acting with integrity, owning mistakes, and holding oneself accountable.
