Job Summary
The Impact Data & Measurement Senior Manager sits on the Textile Exchange Climate & Nature Impact team, which ensures that all Textile Exchange programs and platforms are driving measurable impact reduction and beneficial outcomes and are enabling achievement of the industry’s “Climate+” goals. These include a 45% reduction in GHG emissions from textile fiber and raw material production by 2030, while also addressing other interdependent impact areas such as biodiversity, soil health, and water.
Textile Exchange serves as an industry leader in improving the availability and accessibility of impact data and impact measurement approaches related to the “pre-spin” phase of fiber and raw material production. The Impact Data and Measurement Senior Manager oversees these efforts, including the following key workstreams:
- Life Cycle Assessment data, including facilitation of new studies and development of Textile Exchange’s LCI Library
- Development of Textile Exchange’s “LCA+” approach, including methodologies and data not included in standard LCA methodology today
- Industry-level climate and nature impact targets, including development of targets, guidance for industry, and progress reporting, in alignment with global climate and nature targets and methodologies
This is a 10 month maternity cover hire, with a term of March 15, 2024 – January 16, 2025. This role may be on a secondment or contract basis. The ideal location for this hire is UK or Europe, given current location of the role and existing direct report (both UK-based.)

Reports: Impact Measurement Senior Analyst/Manager and LCA Senior Project Analyst/Project Manager
Like all roles at Textile Exchange, the role will be primarily home-based. Textile Exchange is a United States-based, remote-working organization with a global team; your key colleagues will be in Europe, UK,and North America.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the development of Textile Exchange’s approach to industry impact modeling across the Climate+ strategy impact areas, including: Climate and Nature target-setting; impact measurement methods; approaches to the availability and use of impact data; and progress tracking/reporting.
- Oversee the development of data visualizations and dashboards to communicate impact results internally and externally, in partnership with the Data & Technology Team. Ensure all methods and assumptions are appropriately documented and available to key stakeholders.
- Oversee internal impact modeling needs, including:
- Individual fiber impact projections/pathways
- Impact calculations within reports, guidance documents, or other publications
- Impact reporting through other Textile Exchange platforms, including but not limited to the Materials Benchmark
- Other impact modeling needs that may be identified
- Partner with the Data and Technology team to deliver the above
- Lead on external impact modeling needs, including integration of fiber and raw material impact calculations into other organizations’ publications, such as the annual Roadmap to Net Zero report (led by Apparel Impact Institute) and other reports that may be published by Global Fashion Agenda or Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
- Develop and oversee the strategy for Textile Exchange’s LCA and LCI library workstreams, in partnership with relevant internal stakeholders and external organizations.
- Oversight of funding model, in partnership with Stakeholder Engagement team.
- Co-development of new revenue/fundraising models, in partnership with Chief Business Officer and team.
- Interim management of contracting and invoicing.
- Lead the ongoing development and evolution of Textile Exchange’s “LCA+” approach, considering livelihoods, animal welfare and nature related impact areas, in partnership with relevant internal stakeholders and external organizations.
- Lead the development and execution of a nature strategy for the industry, in partnership with relevant internal stakeholders and external organizations. Strategy to include:
- Development and implementation of nature-related industry-level impact targets
- Co-development of landscape-level and place-based impact measurement and data collection approaches, in partnership with MEL Lead and other internal and external stakeholders and with primary focus on leveraging the Textile Exchange standards.
- Development and deployment of industry guidance
- Implementation of regular reporting cadence and reporting platforms, i.e. Climate+ dashboards
- Nature strategy should align with Science-Based Targets for Nature and the Taskforce on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures wherever possible
- Support the ongoing development of the methodologies and impact data inputs for Textile Exchange’s Impact Tools, including the Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix and the Materials Impact Explorer.
- Provide other impact measurement support to the organization as needed.
- Provide subject matter expertise into external working groups and organizations developing and evolving industry standards for target-setting; impact measurement methodologies; and impact accounting protocols, including but not limited to the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s Materials Sustainability Index (MSI), the GHG Protocol, Science-Based Targets for Nature, and emerging soil carbon measurement protocols.
- Ensure that you stay up to date on the landscape of impact data and methodologies relevant to fibers and materials, including industry best practices around impact accounting and measurement protocols. Help to connect/embed best practices into Textile Exchange’s programs and translate and share findings with the broader membership and industry
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience, ideally in a consulting role.
- Experience working with LCAs and LCA methodology, ideally as applied to the fashion, apparel, and textile sector.
- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder workshops and meetings both in-person and virtually.
- Experience presenting to a variety of audiences and a range of audience sizes.
- Adept at communicating information clearly and concisely to both specialist and non-specialist end users.
- Critical thinking / problem solving; ability to quickly and efficiently synthesize information into specific actions and make decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information.
- Project management experience.
- People management experience.

Employment Package

The position is on a secondment or contract basis for 10 months, from approximately March 15, 2024 to January 16, 2025.

In the case of a secondment, this position would be on a part-time basis, working 4/4.5 days a week for Textile Exchange and 0.5/1 day a week for the ‘home’ organization. This can be negotiated.
