Counterpart is recruiting for a Senior Inclusive Development Advisor for the Inclusive Development and Equitable Assistance (IDEA) Leader with Associates (LWA), Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) Number: 7200AA23RFA00013.
IDEA is a five-year $49.5--99.9M global mechanism that will advance rights, protections and increase engagement of marginalized, under-represented populations and/or people in vulnerable situations (MUGVPs), including but not limited to women and girls, youth, children in adversity and their families, older persons, persons with disabilities, LGBTQI+ people, displaced persons, migrants, Indigenous Peoples and communities, non-dominant religious groups, non-dominant racial and ethnic groups, people in lower castes, and persons with unmet mental health needs and victims of torture, and other actors championing racial and ethnic equity. IDEA will support their development needs through grants, capacity building, and rapid response support. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for spearheading a strategy to advance inclusive development programming to MUGVPs. This will include utilizing cross-cutting, inclusive design, and implementation, for Leader and Associate Awards. This position is contingent upon award.
Key Responsibilities
Develop overall inclusive development strategy for the Leader and Associate awards.
Lead the design and implementation of tools to inform inclusive engagement of diverse program stakeholders in different implementation settings (e.g. closed civic spaces, emergent democracies, etc.).
Lead analysis of learning and evidence cultivation from program implementation to develop knowledge products (e.g. reports; white papers).
Lead thought leadership that draws from program implementation trends, promising practices, and challenges in supporting the capacity development of MUGVPs, along with opportunities and barriers to increasing engagement of MUGVPs.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant social science (i.e., sociology, demography, psychology, political science, and economics), (or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a relevant area).
At least ten (10) years of relevant experience in inclusive development and localization.
Demonstrated experience in leading program coordination, strategic planning, project design with marginalized communities
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive development, through substantial experience working with and fostering meaningful engagement of local partners and traditionally marginalized groups including and not limited to:
Children in adversity, their families, and youth
Indigenous Peoples
Persons with disabilities
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI+) persons
Victims of torture and those with unmet mental health needs
Physical rehabilitation, and assistive health technologies
Populations affected by cross-cutting inclusion and equity efforts, inclusive of racial and ethnic equity
Proficiency in cross-cultural communication and engagement with diverse teams.
Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills,
English proficiency is required, and a second language is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to travel internationally periodically.
Eligibility to work in the US required.
