Department Description

The Operations Department at Asylum Access ensures that teams worldwide have the resources, tools, and support they need to effectively realize Asylum Access’s goals and vision. This includes overseeing various functional areas, including human resources, systems and technology, monitoring and evaluation, planning and learning, risk management, and structure. In all these areas and our day-to-day work, we embed Asylum Access’s values in the processes we create and ensure that the organization is equipped to achieve impact on individual, community, and systemic levels.

Position Description

The Human Resources Volunteer joins the Human Resources team to assist in ongoing and project-based work. During the Spring 2024 semester (January - May 2024), the Human Resources Volunteer will provide support with the onboarding of employees to the new platform, assist with the review of our current recruitment and hiring policies and procedures, and the implementation of the latest health insurance benefit for our headquarter-based employees. This is an opportunity to gain experience in how a global human rights organization manages and supports its people, resources, and information to achieve impact.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Human Resources and Operations Coordinator in administering AAHQ human resources. Potential duties might consist of processing paperwork and forms for health insurance benefits, updating information in our HRIS, and cross-checking information from our platforms ;
• Collecting and organizing data for our research of recruitment best practices;
• Google Workspaces administration;
• Participation in global human resources projects, including but not limited to employee relations support, employee engagement, and benefits

Required Qualifications

• High commitment to confidentiality;
• Interest in human resources administration;
• Fluency in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Cultural competence, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural workforce.
• Demonstrated commitment to meaningful participation, inclusion, and engagement for all team members and external partners.
• Interest in international human rights and/or refugee rights and/or related topics;
• Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Google Workspace;
• Fluency in Spanish will be considered a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some experience and/or coursework in Human Resources
• Experience in BambooHR or an HRIS

Hours and Location of Work

This position will require 15-20 hours of work per week. Work will be fully remote from a location between the Pacific time zone (UTC -7) and Eastern time zone (UTC -5).

Schedule and hours are flexible, and official committed hours and work time will be formalized between the selected candidate and the position supervisor.

Compensation

This is a part-time, unpaid volunteer position.
