Job Summary
The Human Resources Director is a dynamic and strategic leader, responsible for driving the overall HR function and ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and business objectives. As a member of the leadership team, this role is instrumental in shaping a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workforce that supports Textile Exchange’s global impact and continued growth.
With the organization experiencing rapid expansion, the HR Director will play a critical role in supporting this growth by enhancing key HR functions, including improving the annual review process, actualizing organizational principles, and overseeing employee engagement and satisfaction. They will develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies that foster talent acquisition, retention, and organizational development, while ensuring compliance with regional employment laws.
The HR Director will oversee all HR functions, including employee relations, compensation, benefits, learning and development, and performance management. Additionally, they will lead HR data analysis and reporting, using insights to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
In leading a dedicated team of six HR professionals, the HR Director will cultivate a collaborative, people-centric culture that prioritizes employee well-being, professional growth, and operational excellence across a diverse, remote-working global organization. Their experience in guiding mission-driven organizations through periods of growth will be key to maintaining alignment with Textile Exchange’s values and long-term objectives.
Like all roles at Textile Exchange, this role will be primarily home-based; Textile Exchange is a US-based but remote-working organization with a global team. Your key colleagues will be mainly based in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
HR Oversight
· Lead and manage the HR functions for the organization, ensuring excellence and alignment with organizational goals;
· Facilitate change management processes, ensuring that human aspects are prioritized to foster commitment, minimize resistance, and align culture with desired outcome;
· Provide HR advice and suggestion to management teams and leadership team on a regular basis;
· Oversee and provide guidance to the HR operations and Employee Experience teams, providing leadership, mentoring, and development support to ensure a high-performing HR function.;
· Serve as the Human Resources representative on the Senior Leadership Team;
· Manage the HR budget for the organization and provide insights into departmental budget planning for people-related expenses.
Employee Relations
· Develop and implement process and policy that creates an environment where staff are treated fairly and consistently;
· Foster a coaching culture by encouraging coaching conversations throughout the organization.
· Ensure the HR function provides effective guidance on employee relations and performance management issues
· Build organizational capability in employee relations (ER) by empowering to manage ER processes and ensuring awareness of regional regulations and best practices.
· Work closely with Textile Exchange's Chief of Staff to ensure continuity and clarity of internal communications related to Sr Leadership Team decisions and direction.
Employee Engagement
· Develop and implement an annual employee engagement plan to maintain strong connections among remote teams, boosting morale and strengthening organizational culture;
· Advise, plan and implement team building activities, —both virtual and in-person—that foster collaboration and engagement;
· Oversee Engagement Survey facilitate discussions on results, and drive initiatives based on feedback.
· Participate in ongoing analysis of key engagement trends and develop, evaluate and implement new processes to continually enhance our culture: use those analyses to promote a culture of excellence and employee engagement;
Performance Management & Annual Review Process
· Lead the redesign and continuous improvement of Textile Exchange’s annual review process, ensuring it aligns with the organization's values and supports employee growth and performance.
· Implement a more effective, transparent, and engaging performance review system that emphasizes continuous feedback, goal setting, and development.
· Collaborate with leadership to ensure that the annual review process drives accountability, professional development, and clear career progression for all employees.
· Provide training to managers and staff on the revised review process, ensuring they are equipped to deliver productive feedback and set meaningful goals.
· Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the performance management system and make recommendations for ongoing improvements to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
· Utilize data and insights from reviews to inform organizational decision-making and workforce planning.
Learning & Development
· Oversee the development of an annual training plan that addresses all learning and development needs, including compliance, technical, and leadership training;
· Oversee the design and development of new learning programs in response to organizational growth and evolving needs;
· Create resources for manager and employees to understand development pathways for both for upskilling and career development;
· Monitor and support operational training to support effective onboarding and exceptional service levels;
· Ensure annual review of training and development needs conducted and implemented;
· Support the senior leadership team in identifying capability gaps within the organization and develop strategies to address them.; and
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
· Bachelor’ Degree in Human Resources or related business field.
· Master’s degree Preferred.
· 5+ years’ experience in a human resources lead or director role.
· Proven track record of successful implementing HR initiatives in a dynamic, international environment.
· Experience of providing robust advice and coaching to managers and leaders.
· Strong Employment Law knowledge and practice.
· Ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders, across geographies and time zones.
· Great problem-solving skills & flexibility.
· Motivated, energetic, determined, and with strong interpersonal skills.
· Highly literate, with excellent written and grammatical skills in English.
· Able to produce a high standard of work across all forms of media.
· Honest, professional, responsible, discreet, and able to act with the utmost confidence at all times.
· Preferably SHRM qualified or equivalent.
· International as well as domestic HR experience a plus.
Employment Package
· Reports to: Chief Business Officer
· Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week
· Location: Virtual/Remote
· Annual Salary Range: $128,000-$160,000 USD
· To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).
· Our offers for salary and benefits are dependent on the region of the final candidate. We post most positions based on a US-based Team member but final offers are made in alignment with the final candidate's permanent residence and in line with Textile Exchange's regional employment package.
