What is the opportunity?
We are seeking an HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources Team. As an integral support member of our HR Team, you will be responsible for creating a warm and welcoming experience for our new hires and providing excellent customer service to our global Water Mission Team. The role also provides critical administrative support with great attention to detail, including managing HR tasks and ensuring accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting within the HR division. This is a full-time, non-exempt position located in Charleston, SC that reports to the Human Resources Manager.
A successful Human Resources Coordinator will:
Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
Ensure the precision of employee records and handle changes to employee data in various systems, including HRIS, Payroll, and Time Tracking.
Input employee information and ensure employee records are audited for missing or incorrect data.
Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes for Water Mission, including changing various benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, retirement, and counseling.
As part of the onboarding process, ensure new hires feel welcomed and well-prepared for their first day. This includes arranging new hire gifts, ensuring their IT setup is ready, and internally communicating with the payroll team.
Schedule onboarding meetings for new hires, manage the HR Calendar, present onboarding training, and conduct new hire check-ins.
Lead facility tours for new staff and occasionally host job candidates during interviews.
Handle confidential documentation for processing I-9 forms, background checks, and employment verifications.
Ensure that HR files, both physical and electronic, are correctly stored and maintained in an organized manner.
Prepare reports from our HRIS, time tracking, and payroll systems.
Draft, update, and maintain documentation of internal HR processes and procedures.
Reconcile benefits statements and invoices for accuracy.
Be proactive in updating internal communication sites and the employee handbook with the latest HR policies and procedures.
Assist in processing independent contractor agreements and tracking expired agreements.
Provide the HR Team with overall administrative support. This includes tasks such as managing incoming mail and organizing and maintaining electronic and paper documents.
Schedule meetings, take detailed notes, and keep track of follow-ups and action steps as directed.
Serve as the main point of contact for all internal and external HR-related questions or redirect them to the correct department as needed.
Assist in executing the Water Mission’s Employee Recognition programs (Top Drop, birthdays, weddings, funerals, etc.).
Act as a Zoom Host for Water Mission’s virtual daily Staff Huddle by managing the daily break-out rooms for prayer and assisting the Huddle Leaders with screen-sharing and muting participants if necessary.
Deliver various HR announcements to staff virtually and in person.
Help plan special employee events, training, or retreats by sourcing venues, managing invitations, producing event timelines, and overseeing other event needs such as set-up, implementation, and tear down.
Support office security by maintaining accurate security levels for each team member and printing new security badges as needed.
Provide special project support to the HR departments as directed and other duties as assigned.

What is preferred?
Comfort with public speaking both in person and virtually.
Experience working in both remote and in-person environments.
1-2 years of experience working in an administrative support role.
Experience with onboarding/offboarding employees or related HR work.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software and HRIS database systems.
Must be able to remain stationary at least 50% of the time and move about the office as needed.
