Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath through the implementation of unarmed civilian protection programming. NP implements programming through the deployment of civilian protection teams to the field and is continuing to scale up to meet the growing needs in the communities we serve. Programming is founded on unarmed civilian protection and is thematically focused on protection in displacement, child protection, gender-based violence protection, inter-communal violence reduction, social cohesion and civic engagement.

Overview:

This is full time (40 hours/week) position and will serve on the U.S. program team, with responsibilities primarily in North Minneapolis. . The Hub Coordinator will greet community members as they come into the space, plan community-building events identified by Hub partners, manage social and print media to promote Hub events and coordinate the use of the community gathering room and meeting supplies. The Hub coordinator will also assist with outreach and event planning for additional community uses of the Hub. The position will have guidance and support from the NP program team and their direct supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Office Management:

  1. Provide Administrative support to the Program Team, HR Manager, and Head of NPUS including but not limited to coordinating schedule, ordering supplies, general office organization, orderly filing systems (paper and electronic), facilities management and other administrative projects
  2. Front office reception including answering incoming calls, greeting visitors, managing volunteers, providing tours of the Hub

Hub Support and Coordination:

  1. Assist in planning community events hosted at the Hub including collecting contracts and proof of insurance, coordinating calendars, ensuring space is setup, and relationship management with those seeking to rent HUB space
  2. Assist program team with online research and support with program activities
  3. Assist with outreach in seeking additional partners for use of Hub facilities.
  4. Help identify key stakeholders in the community for NP to partner with in trainings, direct protection needs, and events hosted at the Hub or in the community

***Other responsibilities may be identified as Hub continues to grow within the community

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong commitment to the safety and security of civilians, human rights and racial justice
  • Two years’ work/volunteer experience, preferably with a non-profit, civil society organization or community-based organization or group
  • Two years of experience with office management or administrative support
  • Proven ability to maintain a welcoming presence in a public space
  • Excellent communication skills and promptness in correspondence
  • Hybrid work schedule with minimum three days in office and flexibility for additional presence in toffice
  • Availability for regular night and weekend events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an NGO or similar organisation
  • Proven ability to shift focus and maintain deadlines
  • Experience with SalesForce

Working Conditions:

  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required
  • Some travel may be required
